And some of those players hitting the blackjack tables will 'run hot' and then take their money over to the poker-tables to gamble-it-up and try to keep the streak going.
I think this happens semi-frequently on the sites that have sports-betting (Bodog, Paradise to name a couple). some guy with VP-80 would bust-out on the poker-table. And then say he wasn't bothered by it because he would just make it back in that night's Duke/UNC game or something. I also don't think it's 'selling out'. But I'm amazed at how popular the Party blackjack was (since you can play BJ anywhere else if you want to...but evidently there is something to be said for having the button right there in front of you). |

I think the allure of Party BJ is people burning out or tilting. They can try to win it back quickly, or they are sick of poker. It does not require any extra cashout/deposit/waittime like a standalone casino.

I agree 100% with the perspective that BJ takes money away from fish, which in turn takes it away from me. I hate it. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, perhaps, but consider the other factors that are at work here... The BJ Option might be very attractive (to fishy poker players) who would have left the site had they not had BJ. If they are decent at BJ, they are probably losing money very slowly playing BJ (as compared to how fast they lose their money playing limit (and esp. no-limit) poker. Some fish may even win a bunch playing BJ and then decide to call it quits and "give poker a try." There's tons of BJ to be played in B & M Casinos... has the availability of it there really detracted from the quality (i.e., high-fishiness) of the games there typically? (granted, the atmosphere, alcoholic beverages, and the playing-1-table-at-a-time restriction are all bigger factors contributing to the high fish factor of the typical B & M game, but you get the point. It's not as if the BlackJack tables are a huge pull/detractor from the poker games...at least in my opinion they are not...) Plus they encourage gambling/risk-taking. I'm sure a lot of the fish that play BJ know that you can't win in the long-run (without a betting and card-counting system), yet they play anyway 'cause it's fun/gets their heart pounding... If they leave with any money left, I WANT them to come sit down at my poker table with that same gamble it up/"let's take a stupid risk" attitude (just for the rush/fun of it, etc.). Only in rare cases I'd estimate that a fish who would have sat to play poker ended up sitting to play BJ, busted out, and (as a result) never made it to the poker table...am I making sense? Overall I'd say Poker rooms having BJ is a good thing. More importantly I'd say would be what the max betting limit at the BJ table at the Online poker room in question is... If the max bet is $100., then there's more of a concern (i.e., a fishy poker player can blow through a TON of his poker money laying out $100. bets!!!) And so, as my crazy working theory here goes, I say BJ is, in general, a "good thing" for the poker tables, UNLESS it is the cause for the "busting" of a fish player who would have (eventually) made it to the poker tables to lose his $$$Cash$$$ to you (which is a case I don't think happens that often...at least I think - need some evidence/hard research or something...). |

Right - because, before, those sites were all about giving people opportunities to play great poker and to enrich their minds. I mean, jeez - wake up, man. Every other hand in a Pokerstars tournament is A(x) v. A (x-1). [/ QUOTE ] You are an idiot. |

The are adding BJ to make money, same reason they offer poker, to make money. They aren't charity organizations. They don't give a damn about "poker" per say, they care about money. Poker rake is how they made their money, now they are gonna start making it in BJ also.
I hate it as well but you can't act insane. |

[/ QUOTE ] I agree Bob, Once very recently, at InterPoker, some guy sat at an (already fishy) $15/30 game with $2,500. and said he just won a big multi and was blowing off some steam/having fun with it. He then proceeded to lose all $2,500. of it, and then he happily left the table and said he was going to bed! Amazing what can happen! What a world we live in! Imagine if a guy just had a huge run at BJ (won a few hundred... or thousand), and then came and sat to "gamble it up" at your poker table! MAKE NO MISTAKE - THIS WOULD BE A GOOD THING. (NOTE: to readers, the Interpoker games at 15/30$ are pretty much non-existent (correct me if I'm wrong anybody) -but there was a stretch of a couple nights where a 15/30 game broke out AND it was shockingly-amazingly fishy. Several thousand $s were moving back and forth across the table very fast (pots were all HUGE, some guys NEVER folded pre-flop... EVER!). But, then...the sharks came, the fish ran out of money and it became a TAG fest and then the game died. THE END. lol) |

I like BJ at Party.
I had 86 cents in my account, so I went to dump it at the penny slots. Somehow built it up to $3, so I took it to the BJ table. Got that up to $6, took that to a S&G. Now I have $30+. YAY BLACKJACK! |

Reminds me of a time I was playing 15/30 and there was some guy who had $120k at the table or something.
He was about 93/80. Amazing. All these observers were talking to him and congratulating him. I later saw that it was because his name was at the top of the party main-lobby after having won the bad-beat jackpot. I was to his immediate left and it was a golden-opportunity. I dropped $2k or so always getting rivered by his 43o and what-not and then scratched and clawed my way back to even before he called it a night. He lost about $9k to the rest of the table. |
