Why do you have to be computer savvy to multi-table? All you do is click buttons. Stars software always brings the action table to the foreground.

If she is playing a TAG-style, I don't see how it would be so difficult to achieve. She isn't 85.

Six-tabling is not that easy, especially to someone who hasn't grown up with/isn't familiar with computers. Its easy for us because we mostly grew up in the computer generation, or we played winning poker for years before playing online and workign up to 6 tables. It sounds like she did neither. She is so unfamiliar with computers/technology that she couldn't figure out how to open a hotmail account (not that hard of a feat), but she can 6-table?

Especially on an 800x600 monitor (as earlier stated).

ya people are going crazy over the mom thing. I don't think that was a necessary part of the issue. "But she's a 57 year old mom!" People don't normally show signs of alzheimers at 57. And having kids doesn't make you more stupid or something either. I wouldn't be surprised if your mom did some research on win hold em and then left it running for the 2 days stars said her account was playing. How good is your relationship with your mom? Would she be embarrassed to talk to you about something like this?

[/ QUOTE ]

His mom is leading a secretive double life. A technologically inept housewife by day, a nefarious bot programmer and card colluder by night!

Do you really know your mom?

Your mom probably tried out a bot. Maybe she had a friend who told her it was a good idea etc. And doesnt feel like ratting the friend out to you.

[/ QUOTE ]

Nah, that doesn't make sense either, a 57 year old lady who can't open her own hotmail account is not going to be able to figure out how to implement a bot, even if someone else writes the script for her.

[/ QUOTE ]

Exactly - if someone really was running a bot on that computer, Teddy is obviously the most likely candidate, not the 57 year old computer illiterate mother. But then, the fact that she supposedly 6-tables for pennies is fairly suspect, too...

I think one thing is pretty clear here:

Whether you're completely innocent or not, Tedddy, posting this was a terrible, terrible idea. If you've done nothing wrong, it was foolish to post this without getting all the facts. Making a post about this obviously improbable sounding scenario without knowing everything and then constantly refusing to post the emails... I mean, what was the goal of posting this? This, as you now see, can only look bad. I don't really get it.

If you are responsible for botting here, well... you're just retarded and I hope you're embarassed (and banned from all sites). I don't get this, either.

Either way... bad call.

That combined with the fact that she's 6-tabling nanolimits (wtf, btw?) must be what they're looking at.

A friend and I do this for time to time.

I never play more than 4 tables, but he handle playing 8. I havent done it in over a year, but he just recently did it after cashing out almost all his money.

A bot user might decide to test-run their bot on somebody else's account to shake out bugs, see if it gets caught, etc. All they need, I think, is your username and password, which you could get in a variety of ways (keylogger, phishing, etc.).

Nah. The 6 tabling part is easy. The things the computer unsavy find hard are the things they have no reference frame for. Trying to explain to my Mum where email came from was one of my more memorable discussions with her. (So you send your email to your ISP, what's an ISP?, who sends it?, why do they need to see it? I'm not sending my email to somebody I don't know, ....)

Given enough motivation, (gambling, free music, etc.) they'll figure out how to do specific tasks, but the general stuff like security, viruses, and such like is something you need a fair amount of exposure to, to really understand. Witness just how many people on these forums have problems with that stuff.

Personally i'm voting for trojan here, but that's just me. If you want some help with the forensics Teddy, drop me a PM.

A bot user could test out a bot on a dummy account by setting up a fake name/etc. pretty easily. If someone obtained another person's account information, there are a lot better things they could do with it (wipe out all the cash on the account, use the account to make deposits and then chip dump, etc.) than use it to test a bot. Plus, it makes them more likely to have their bot caught and its playing style flagged. This scenario does not make sense either.
