Personally I'd play Pacific Trout every week if it was 1 hour later (and there was reasonable turnout) but I'm probably in the minority there :/ I think a weekend afternoon would be more popular.

Hyde - Don't get me wrong. I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] all of you guys and [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] playing the Trout games. Great to hang out with any of the 2+2 crowd anytime.

I don't play for the hourly rate, just for the camaradarie and to donate my donkey $10 to the prize pool and LL bets. The chat is hilarious, the games are fun and the money doesn't matter.

The day/date/time shouldn't be a deciding factor. More of the forum should play regardless of day/date/time IMHO. Boooo! to those that don't....

Besides, it's your only real chance to dump chips to SFB so he can finally win a LL bet.

I am not sure why participation has tapered off. As recently as a month ago, we were getting at least 2 tables in the Pacific. Please, please, please do not change it to Sunday afternoons as that is prime time for PokerStars major MTTs (weekly $1mil and $650 WSOP direct quali).

Personally, I love the trout games. As stated above, the players are friendly, the play overall is good, and the chat is lively. IMHO, since the play recently at Stars has deteriorated greatly (with the influx of hopeful WSOP qualifiers), this is one of the only tournaments where players will actually fold. Furthermore, I've learned quite a bit playing in these games since the trout overall are just better than your average Stars player.

Suggestions:
(1) Perhaps, the weekly games could be publicized more or differently (like somewhere else besides One-table Tournaments Forum).
(2) Have rotating or random bounties for eliminating certain players - might make the play more interesting.
(3) Change the format periodically, PL instead of NL, maybe a turbo (personally I don't like), or increase stakes once a month to $30. How bout a $5 rebuy? That would be fun.
(4) How bout a running points race? Standings could be posted. Not saying this should be another King of the Zoo, but what about a BigTroutInThePond?

some good thoughts.
you are right on the Sunday afternoons.

We might also consider a new commisioner. I am about to enter my busy season and frankly I have not done as good a job as Doc Phsyic did searching out links of interest.
Codewarrior was the premier promoter, he would have made a great carnie barker..., but his life has changed forever...little does he know...teenagers, just wait.
One regular was considering keeping track of finishes and doing something with it. Unfortunately I haven't seen him play for a few months.
I do cross post on MTT, internet, and beginners.
as to changes of games, it was discussed and decided that KotZ kind of handled that and wwe were STT SNGers.
But let's get back to a new commissioner!!! anyone want to volunteer????
bottom line consideration is I think these games are indeed a night off from poker. A busman's holiday. there is rarely any enjoyable chat in other games any longer.
continue to discus.

I miss playing these games hyde, and not just because I had a positive ROI. Unfortunately, I now have a mac, and while I recently figured out a way to dual boot with it, I cashed out everything from my stars account months ago, and need to take care of bills before I fund that account again, but I will hopefully be back sooner rather than later!

I might drop by next wednesday to chat though, although really am not sure if I can since I wouldn't have a buy in in my account, but we'll see...

I love some of the ideas, especially about the bounty (it could be the previous winner to make things interesting) and absolutely love the idea about different games (wish stars had horse sngs, I love playing those on full tilt).

So yeah, just stopped in this thread to say hey and that I'll be back soon!

It also doesn't help that any attempt to promote these games in any forum other than 1TTF get the thread instantly locked or deleted.

why has the popularity of the trout game died?

Must be since I haven't had time to donate lately... I'm going to try to play this coming week.

Same here. I normally have a meeting one Wednesday night each month, but had 2 this month and missed the last couple trout games.

These games are great fun and have nothing to do with ROI, $/hr, or BR. They are a great place to get together, read or join the chat, and either donk around or try to play your A game.

How about one of the old timers make a post asking why more people don't play these and try to drum up some more players.

It could even turn in to something where the winner posts his HH every week and people can comment on the play.
