Hey,
Some friends and I are going on a trip to Vancouver and we are wondering if anyone has recommendations as to what to visit. Also, any recommendations on where we could smoke some good herb would be helpful. Thanks |

300 block west hastings street. Everyone smokes outdoors, in the cafes, bookstores, etc. A couple of blocks away is a shop that sells, as well. There are good restaurants on every corner.
Enjoy one of the greatest cities in the world. |

I like the sandbar on granville island. great food and great views and reasonably priced (entrees are $30-40). gotham on richards is the best steakhouse in the city, not great for casual dining, but if you go you'll probably see ben stiller who allegedly eats there every night. runs about the same as the sandbar in cost. aqua riva is great too. and you might run into gordon campbell! who wouldn't rather meet him than ben stiller? if you like sushi you have to check out top gun sushi on the new westminster quay. they have the most insane all you can eat menu. if you're a serious fan of sushi, you should check out tojo's on west broadway. hidekazu tojo, the chef, virtually invented north american japanese cuisine. expensive though, as it's a five star.

Good restaurants are _not_ hard to find in Vancouver.
Tojo's is definitely a good call for Japanese. It's an odd little place, though. The decor hasn't been updated since the 90s when it was popular, but the food is great. Memphis Blues on Broadway for barbecue. Seriously great. Simpatico on 4th is a Greek restaurant, but they've got great pizza. Feenie's is the bistro next to Lumiere (one of the big name restaurants) It's pretty casual, not at all expensive, and they make a great burger. Vij's (or Rangoli, the bistro next to it) for Indian. Fritz's downtown for fries. Not a restaurant, though. |

for casinos, just go straight for the river rock in richmond. about 20 min drive from the downtown core.
for restaurants, aki (japanese) and tropika (malaysian) are two of my favorites both of which can be found downtown. nightclubs depend entirely on your taste of music but the ones on granville st. like caprice/skybar/plaza are generally meat markets with a decent amount of chicks of varying shapes and sizes on the weekends. you can also try plush at the plaza of nations downtown. i prefer going to bar none when they have a dj playing deep house since it is generally the hottest people in town partying. i don't think the slopes for the local mountains (cypress, grouse, seymour) are open since we haven't had dick for snow. whistler/blackcomb is open though at least for glacier skiing. check snow reports online. for greens just meet people in clubs/pubs. nearly everyone in this city smokes. im not sure if the cafe still operates on hastings st. where they let you sit down and have a few tokes but if it is open, you can find some ther easily. is there anything specific you'd like to indulge in? tons of things to do in the city if you have the time, money and inclination. |

other ideas to get out of the city:
some other random ideas: -go skiing at whistler/blackcomb -or just drive up to whistler for the afternoon.....the drive up the sea to sky highway is amazing with beautiful winding oceanside leading to coastal mountain peaks.....highly recommended. the drive takes approx. 1h45 -if it is a clear day take the tram up to the top of grouse mountain, which is a local mountain, for the view of the city. -picasso exhibit is currently at the vancouver art gallery. -if you like history and touristy kinds of things there is a brand new attraction called "Storyeum" (http://www.storyeum.com/) .....it is well worth the visit as it is an excellent interactive media show/tour/story.....if you are into that kind of thing. .....as far as a the bud....i can give you the number of a delivery guy..... otherwise go to the 200west hastings block and go into the hemp shop on the NORTH side of the street. tell them you are from out of town and want to get some top quality weed. they will be able to send you to the right place......the head shops on the SOUTH side of the street may also work but the quality will be hit and miss. cheers, sean |
