for anyone wondering i played around an hour and a half today. three 2/4 shorthanded tables and made around $100 in rake.

if they allow to open more than three tables i would never have to work again.

[/ QUOTE ]

I see no 2/4 SH tables available.

[/ QUOTE ]

the tables themselves weren't the five max tables, they were the ten handed tables, but with only three or four players at them.

[/ QUOTE ]

Thanks for the clarification. I emailed support and they said that requests for more SH tables have been sent to their programming dept. so hopefully this wil be fixed.

I think spamming to other players in chat-boxes is just a slimy/stupid thing to do.
And to do so in efforts to promote a site that happens to be rake-free doesn't change my opinion on this.

[/ QUOTE ]

I meant more in a conversational way. Not just unsolicited spamming. I agree pure spamming is not good. The disabled chat thing was a joke (maybe not) that the sites are going to ban your chat just for mentioning a rake free site.

I meant more like this:

Fish 1: River stars sucks!!1!1!! Always getting sucked out on the river!!!@
Me: I hear ya man, I prefer some other sites myself.
Fish 1 or 2 or 3: Yeah, like which one?
Me: Well the one I mostly play on is WSEX, the nice thing is they give back all the rake each week to the players.

Blah, Blah, Blah...

Same conversation in card room or anytime online poker comes up.

I pretty much understood it as you presented. But I still think that's awfully spammy.

Though Timer's point that the sites themselves aren't exactly the most unslimy of organizations is worth considering too.

Just deposited $500. Played some 10 / 20 most of it short handed.

If these are bots I say let the bots play! Most players stay quite a bit and are not very aggressive (like home games).

I played 150 hands and had $50 in rake. Which will be coming back on Monday

Overall the HH's are a pain. You have to request them 100 at a time (and I'm not sure what you do if you play over 100 hands in a session.)

I sent an email asking to just have all mine sent to me.

The game moves SUPER fast. And it's a little tough to tell when it's your turn, so I can see it being harder to multi-table.

you also don't get to see other players cards when you beat them (could be good or bad) But ONE GOOD thing is you don't have all the pricks doing the "ha ha fish" to bad players.

So far I think I found a new home. (Sure would like the [edit $22K] plus in rake I paid to Party in the last year!!)

The big cards at the bottom are still messing with my head.

It always feels like I'm in seat 5 on every table...which isn't good when I'm actually Seat 2 or seat 10 or whatever.

I guess I'll get used to it eventually. But the software is DEFINITELY taking some getting used to.

If this site just gradually grows each month...around football season it could be a goldmine.
I figure thats when WSEX could lure the most new players thru their sportsbook + bonus if they advertise it well.

In terms of marketing this new rakeback system they should simply use a
"Get paid to play poker at WSEX.com. The more you play the more we pay you."

Most players wouldn't care that your being paid with your own money.

if usa ever allows internet sites in usa soil the big casinoes will immediately dominate the market.

if i remember correctly, on that 60 minutes special, the guy from the mirage even said they have everything in place to start an online site given the chance.

i cant imagine wsex would compete with mirage/bellagio.

[/ QUOTE ]

There are reasons to think otherwise:

1) I've seen 60 Minutes (and the like) interviews with casino bosses before. And have found them to contain nothing more than self-serving, untruthful, BS. That you saw an exec say that is, in my mind, at least irrelevant, or probably good reason to believe the opposite.

2) The internet s/w landscape (capabilities, etc) is a rapidly evolving place. I don't think Mirage (& Co.) have a software development team working full-time on keeping their 'sitting on a shelf' software state of the art. If they have any software at all, it is probably quite dated.

3) While Mirage (and the like) have mega-dollars, they have zero experience in running an on-line site. Experience counts in any enterprise, especially billion dollar ones. Not all problems can be solved by throwing $$$ at them. I've generally found that companies that make obscene profits are usually quite incompetent (their excessive profits usually come from some sort of monopoly, and they've never needed to employ really clever people). Have you interacted much with senior casino management? I have. Nearly all of them worked their way up the ladder, and almost none of them are qualified at anything. They have extraordinarily high opinions of themselves, but no one else does.

4) WSEX will, if the 'doors' open, hit the ground running (with thousands or tens of thousands of existing customers). They'll also get kudos (and much PR) for being the organisation that opened the doors.

Unlike you, I can imagine WSEX competing with Mirage, Bellagio, etc. Certainly the B&M casinos will scramble - they'll have to - but I don't think they'll come close to eliminating WSEX.

Will WSEX at least prosper enough to be still able to offer us a welcome mat? I think so. The competition in the US market won't make these companies smaller. That competition will be all about who can capture the phenomenol market growth that will occur if sites are allowed to be based within the US. If WSEX loses that race, they might only double in size, rather than being ten-times larger.

Most importantly, let's hope WSEX don't share your pessimism. I want them to try to, and to succeed at, cracking the US.

[/ QUOTE ]
I nominate this chick (?) as newb of the month.

One point I would make: I do think a big US casinos would dominate online poker simply by buying out companies that already have good software and a large base of customers. Why compete with the big sites -- just buy them! They would just seek to expand them from there, using crossover promotions with B&M operations like giving away poker software in the casinos, etc.

Well thought out posts. You seem to be a clear and logical thinker.

I am missing something though... oh yeah:

And welcome to the boards!
