It's a good thing for the Sox they don't determine wins and losses based on a position-by-position comparison.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] the gap between the NYY and boston keeps closing. [/ QUOTE ] O Rly? What positions does Boston have an advantage at besides LF and C? Damon>Crisp, Sheffield>>Nixon, A-Rod>>Mueller, Jeter>whoever the SS is, Cano>whoever the 2B is, Giambi>Choi. Only Varitek and Manny are better out of the 8 position players. [/ QUOTE ] Cano < Loretta, Crisp = Damon and how could you do a comparison without including David Ortiz? [/ QUOTE ] My bad Dougie, I totally forgot about him. You win DH easily but the Yankees are still better at 6 of the 9 positions. Crisp =/= Damon and Loretta =/= Cano. [/ QUOTE ] first off, actually crisp > damon, as his defense will be better. loretta > cano. bill muellar doesnt play for the team anymore, and choi is not the starting 1B. secondly, nobody said boston was better you buffoon. this is second time in as many days you have interjected yourself in a thread and made posts that have basically nothing to do with the thread. thirdly, we know who you are so please go away. YOU ARE NOT WANTED HERE! |

[ QUOTE ] 27 years old. Lifetime avg of .240 and 40 HRs. [/ QUOTE ] OBP has to be factored in. Which I am sure Theo thought about. And the price was right (well below right). craig [/ QUOTE ] Choi's hit .253/.361/.463 when not pinch hitting over the past three years. Most of that is in the pitchers' parks in Miami and Los Angeles. He's been a terrible pinch hitter, but a lot of players struggle with that task, particuarly hitters like Choi that rely on working the count. That .253/.361/.463 line, with no alteration or improvement, would be better than about half the starters in the American League. Certainly better than Conine (BAL), Broussard (CLE), Mientkiewicz (KC), Lee (TB). Comparable to Morneau (MIN), Johnson (OAK) and Overbay (TOR). Very probably better than Kotchman (LAA), although Kotchman might be better long-term. |
