Yeah, I usually find myself check calling as I really dislike checkraising. I feel like this just opens us up to get outplayed on the turn though.
So... what now... Flop 10 7 2. I check and call a $32 bet. Pot is about $100 now. Turn: 5 (bringing a flush draw but not mine). I check, villian bets $75. My play? |

fold pf, c/f flop usually, sometimes calling if villan is really really bad.
turn i just open push. although maybe a bit slim, here is the range i give villan : Board: Td 7c 2s 5s Dead: equity (%) win (%) tie (%) Hand 1: 60.8696 % 60.87% 00.00% { JsTs } Hand 2: 39.1304 % 39.13% 00.00% { TT+, AQo+ } |

Sorry for the confusion orange and others, but the turn does NOT bring a flush draw for me, just a flush draw. Also, I am assuming that when you say fold preflop that this is to the 3bet and not open folding?

Concerning preflop...eff stacks are $300 so I figured I have some nice implied odds when i hit a hand. How big do the stacks need to be before the folders say call? Are you always folding becuase we are out of position? It's only $14 more for me to call, I would have thought that this would have been a pretty standard call.

[/ QUOTE ] One of the problems is that far more often than the times you hit a monster you hit a marginal hand (like this one), and you have to play it OOP in an inflated pot. If effective stacks were 200BBs-ish and villain was a superdonk I'd probably call. |

At least 220BB For me or something like that.
In position you can play this if you want. And I would fold to the second barrel for sure. Also I lead the flop. I dont care if I never get called by worse. Your hand has no SD value really anyway, unless it gets checked down. |

I'd actually see a flop if I had a decent read on villains postflop tendencies, and thought I could get his stack in easily if I outflop aces.
Calling is a weak play though and mostly leads to spots like these. Also sets up more villains to take shots at you since they see you calling and then folding to more aggression. |

Ok, ok, I didn't really intend for this post to be about preflop. How are we playing 88, 99, or JJ here? If we are leading what's the plan if just called? Are we putting more money in the pot? If not, why wouldn't we just do that as a pure bluff then? These are the same thoughts that go through my head if I think about check raising the flop.
