May I ask how much you made that they wanted you to take a 28k paycut?? That's huge!

I was offered 50k , which I refused (not because I'm greedy but because I had offers in the 50k ranger closer and it was a 74 mile one way drive). Then they came back with 65k a few days later.

So to answer your question, 65k.

Wow, a 28k paycut is ridiculous. I would have said the famous words, "You can't fire me because I quit!!!" Maybe I wouldn't have and just let them lay me off. You can probably find a better job somewhere else.

TPup,

Sorry to hear about that mang. You do web stuff - was that you or Ray that worked for CWIE (or both)? Maybe they have some stuff going on - it's not like the pr0n industry ever has a recession.

It was Ray - Ya I threw him a IM today also. I'm sure between web deals and collections, I can survive if I dont find a job right away.

But all would be better if I could find something asap so I could get back to some sort of normalcy.

wouldn't this reduce the chances of collecting unemployment?

Yeah probably, and most likely. I never had a fulltime job, so I really don't know what it is like to job hunt and worry about benefits and all of the other happy, fun stuff.

I wouldn't say I quit though. I would definitely not take the paycut though and let them get rid of me.

No. At least in TN, quitting in lieu of getting fired doesn't affect your status for collecting unemployment. They even use this specific example. Providing you meet the requirements for collecting, if your boss tells you you're getting fired today, tomorrow, next week, you can quit on the spot and still get your unemployment.
