Default Gutshots HU

Are you guys ever folding gutshots HU on the flop? On the turn? Any hand examples that you guys can think of?

(I'm still reading through SH.PDF right now and I haven't got past the beginning of it.)

Just to clarify, I mean in raised pots.

Gutshot with no other way to improve (no overcards, flush draws, etc.) usually will get folded on the flop unless the pot has been capped 5 ways PF or something and now it's HU or the villain is a complete aggro monkey that will cap every street and pay off with implied odds for me to chase.

And if either of these conditions are available for me to chase a gutshot on the flop, I'm usually folding the turn unless the pot is just gigantic.

I can't remember where I found it, but I'll email it to you if you want. The PF chart in it is dated, though, so keep that in mind.

You should not be calling gutshots in most multiway pots. HU just offers you worse odds for drawing...

You didn't really describe the situation specifically enough, but often you can peel, with your gutshot, your implied odds, and your pair "outs." Sometimes you can even think about making a play.

Versus a SB open-raise, T9 on 762 is stronger, for instance, than 54 on Q87.

I agree. Generally the gutshot alone is not enough heads-up. If you have a backdoor flush and/or some overcards that can swing it to a call or raise for a free card.
