Gutshots HU
Are you guys ever folding gutshots HU on the flop? On the turn? Any hand examples that you guys can think of?
(I'm still reading through SH.PDF right now and I haven't got past the beginning of it.) Just to clarify, I mean in raised pots. |
Re: Gutshots HU
Gutshot with no other way to improve (no overcards, flush draws, etc.) usually will get folded on the flop unless the pot has been capped 5 ways PF or something and now it's HU or the villain is a complete aggro monkey that will cap every street and pay off with implied odds for me to chase.
And if either of these conditions are available for me to chase a gutshot on the flop, I'm usually folding the turn unless the pot is just gigantic. |

Re: Gutshots HU
You should not be calling gutshots in most multiway pots. HU just offers you worse odds for drawing...

Re: Gutshots HU
You didn't really describe the situation specifically enough, but often you can peel, with your gutshot, your implied odds, and your pair "outs." Sometimes you can even think about making a play.
Versus a SB open-raise, T9 on 762 is stronger, for instance, than 54 on Q87. |
Re: Gutshots HU
I agree. Generally the gutshot alone is not enough heads-up. If you have a backdoor flush and/or some overcards that can swing it to a call or raise for a free card.
