You were probably expected to pay a big fee up front, and a bouncer or whatever was going to interrupt the party a couple minutes in. If you were in TJ or something, then never mind...

She instinctively prepared to dance, but then what I said sunk in. She tucked the money in her boot and moved on to the next table. FWIW, I don't have a sister.
