I understand all the range of hands issues.

But is this a spot where I'm better off not risking 1/2 of a huge stack, and picking better spots to continue to accumulate?

with 3rd place stack people fear me and I should be able to bully the table with near impunity. with a below avg stack that is no longer the case.
