Default I\'ve got a \"Poker\"

I've been living in Ireland since August, and play about 3 nights a week in the local cardrooms. Just wondering if anyone is familiar with the term "poker" being used instead of "quads" or "four of a kind"..

I don't know if its just an Irish thing or what. First time I heard it I didn't know what the player was talking about. I thought he said "I have pocket __"

Obviously I've gotten used to the term since then (although I still announce quads).. but does anyone know where this term came from? Is it used at all in the US? I'd never heard the term used to mean four of a kind prior to playing here.
