I just quit my coding job, without anything lined up or anything. Yea, it wasn't the brightest move in the book, but everythign worked out ok. I just sent my resume to high schools around my area, and during the summer (when schools typically are hiring for the upcoming school year), one of the schools contacted me, I interviewed, and was offered the job literally 2 hours after I interviewed. These days though, with some recent Bush legislation, it's pretty much impossible (unless you're in the ghettoest of ghettoes) to start teaching without already having a credential.
