the women would be better pure shooters, but they wouldn't be able to create too many open shots

the women would be better pure shooters, but they wouldn't be able to create too many open shots [/ QUOTE ] No, they aren't better pure shooters. This is part of the myth that women have "skills" that are better than the men, and they are just hindered by inferior strength, height and speed. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is NOTHING in sports that women do better than men. Take any skill or athletic competition you can name and open it up to every one. The men will dominate the competition, always, period, completely. Men are better shooters, better passers, better defenders than women. Better free throw shooters. Whatever. In golf, there's this myth that sure, the men can bomb it off the tee, but the women's short games are just as good. That's a lie. They suck. Their short games SUCK compared to the men. They can't putt nearly as well as the men. |

Obviously, it has to be lighter for the difference in upper body strength. I'm sure if you engineered a ball that weighed the same but had the same dimensions as a men's ball, their shooting percentages would plummet--if you did a direct man to woman comparison, the man would be the better shooter. |

In 1991 and 1992, I played in many pickup games featuring Ms. Clarissa Davis, who had been the women's player of the year in 1986. She was consistently the worst player on the court, including myself, a B-grade athlete who played JV basketball in H.S. but never made the varsity. She also called the most ridiculous ticky-tack fouls I've ever seen on a pickup court when she realized she couldn't drive past anyone. [/ QUOTE ] Yep, sounds like you are at my level. B team as a Freshman, then cut. |

I think you guys misunderstood me. I didn't mean women are better pure shooters in general, I was just talking about this case. But yea of course pro men>>>^10pro women in all things including pure shooting, but that's the one thing that women can be close in. Keep in mind all a good pure shooter is is someone who will hit all their shots in practice, which often means absolutely nothing in games.

Is there a known reason for this? Putting/Chipping doesn't seem to require power, more finesse/practice/accuracy. [/ QUOTE ] 1) Men have better hand-eye coordination/athleticism. 2) The competition to make the PGA is much harder than with the LPGA. In other words, the average man on the PGA has probably spent far more of his life playing golf than the average woman on the LPGA. |
