I agree with you that my range was too narrow.

I was simply relying on SSHE's pre-flop chart that we should re-raise with AA-QQ, AKs(AK) and the fact that this player did not play much in past 60 hands.

I am the "chart player"... As other forum members pointed out, I think my reads was too narrow. I only played with him for about 60 hands of which he only played a couple of times. So I expected he holds a premium hand.

I think I prematurely assumed he is an aggressive player here. I do not know how aggressive he is. I just thought he has a good hand.

I was basing my reads on 60 hands I played with him in that session. According to PokerTracker, VP$IP is 20.34. PF raise % is 15.25%. He only went to a showdown once when he was on BB with 98o.

To be honest, I do now know why I put him on AA-QQ, AKs. As other people mentioned, I think my reads was too narrow.

The other question is what is his read of you? If he sees you're playing a bit loose then he doesn't necessarily need a premium hand to re-raise.

Being aggressive pre-flop then passive after an Ace hits on the flop indicates KK, QQ, JJ or such. Being aggressive again after the turn K strengthens KK but could also mean A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] or A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I would have slowed down too, but more to see his cards than because I thought I was beat.

This is dangerous thinking, with only a limited read, regardless of what that read tells you.

I play tight. My VP$IP is usually around 14%. I think he knows that I was playing tight in that session. So I (prematurely)assumed he holds a premium hand.
