Matusow is kinda like Stu Ungar but with less talent. Prodigious talent mind you, but not "the best in the world" talent.

[/ QUOTE ]

That may be the worst comparison ever. I'm sure Matusow is talented in the "he's a professional player so he's better than the vast majority of poker players way" but "prodigious talent" is a stretch in my mind.

[ QUOTE ]

It sort of appears that Howard sorta resents Mike his ego, given how Howard's spent all that time denying his ego during play and how it hasn't translated into the same sort of tournament notariety.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think you're over-analyzing Howard. My guess is that he dislikes the atmosphere players like Mike create at a poker table. I guess there's no way to know, but I HIGHLY doubt your very specific reason for his comment is accurate.

Howard Lederer is pretty successful and well known. Plus he is respected, something Mike Matusow won't be for a very long time (if ever). I don't think there's much for Howard Lederer to be jealous of in Mike Matusow.

Wow didn't know anybody watched that show anymore...

[/ QUOTE ]

Really? It's probably my favorite poker show after HSP. It has top pros (no donks that were lucky to make a final table), top notch analysis from Lederer, and no annoying hyperbole like the PPT. You also get to hear what the pros are saying more than most other shows. This year's format is less of an all-in fest than the last two years. There actually is a good amount of flop, turn, and river play this year.

[/ QUOTE ]

Agree 100%. I've really enjoyed this season of Poker Superstars. I also like that there's no crowd and hype. It feels like a private poker game. It's all business.

[/ QUOTE ]

PSIII is really the only poker show I watch these days, it and HSP are the only ones in my Tivo list. I enjoy the dynamic the format gives the game, and I was delighted watching Gus knock out the mouth.

I thought it was friendly ribbing until the after interview - was some real vitriol there, made me laugh. What a douche. Saying gus doesn't understand odds.. haha

Mike melted down on Gus tonight big time after Gus moved in on mike in the SB with K9o and Mike called with QQ. Gus spiked a king, Mike called Gus "the luckiest human to walk the face of the earth" and then commented something along the lines of so long as Gus continues to catch cards he'll be a superstar.

Interestingly enough, they are my two favorite players.
