i think it's easier if it's a spade because now a larger part of his range is made up of hands you beat. before his range was (hands you have slaughtered) + (hands that slaughter you) + (some straight draws). you have considerably more equity now that we can add (flush draws) to his range.

Isnt calling here weak? An adept opponent would bet the turn very heavily.

Yes and No...

I think the problem here is that I am reading "strange spot" in your title and "weak/timid post flop" and I have a specific player in mind that this guy may or may not resemble.

With a normal or an unknown player, I am reraisng here for sure to find out where I am, also thinking i am ahead. If this guy has been "weak/timid" post flop prior, does he have it in him to reraise here without having you beat? If he really is "weak/timid" i expect him slow down greatly after a flat call, if his hand cannot beat AJ. With the player I am thinking of you are W/A or W/B here and I am not looking to build the pot.

If you posted the hand without any background, I reraise for sure.

I think folding is out of the question. Any rereaise on your part will most likely commit all your chips. Against a solid player I would probably reraise and be fine with any outcome. I think the key here is the fact that he is weak and tricky. Your hand is fairly safe against getting outdrawn. This is one of those situations where you are either beat or he is drawing very slim. I find it unlikely he has a straight draw given the min raise. I most likely would call and let him hang himself. You have position and a big hand. I react to the turn and am willing to lose a big pot.

Isnt about half the deck a scare card? Doesnt that make it much more difficult to assess the situation?

Also, Kidling, welcome to the forums. Hope you post more, good advice.
