Good thing real TS isn't this stupid.

I suppose I could have ranked Auburn lower, as they haven't impressed me at all. But who else could I put as 3?

[/ QUOTE ]

Again, lack of quality teams to put at #10. Perhaps Tennessee, its close. Auburn is a solid team, but has done nothing to make me think they are a Championship caliber team.

[/ QUOTE ]

It amazes me that people thinnk Auburn is really THAT good that it is completely blasphemous to put someone as good as Michigan ahead of them. Auburn barely even beat f'in South Carolina. Michigan has owned every team they have played. Auburn has beaten one quality team (LSU), Michigan beat ND. What is so ridiculous about this? I am in no way saying Auburn isn't good, but gimme a break.

Question for everyone rankings teams here: are we doing this more on accomplishment or potential? If a team that has potential has beaten up several weak teams and had nothing remotely challenging yet, would you rank them ahead of another team which had won some tough games? Or are we combining the two: ie, some of what you've done, some of what I think you can do?

The reason here is of course a team like Miami 2001, that no one disputed at the end was the best team, could have played a terrible schedule, and thus had a poor resume, but still been the best team. Still, it'll mostly sort itself out at season's end.

Also, for MyTurn, re: Manningham, he's actually quite versatile. last two weeks have seen several outs, a flag, some crossing routes, etc. We also throw the "long handoff" to him (throw it horizontally to a flanker at the snap) which he does well with. Only thing he can't do is catch quick slants, apparently.

i have watched the teams play, and you don't have to convince me that Auburn and LSU and a slough of other SEC teams are very good. But I am not quite sure how so many people can unequivocally pronounce that they are undoubtedly better than a team like Michigan or WVU, who has destroyed every obstacle in their path, especially when teams like Auburn barely beat teams like South Carolina.

South Carolina is a pretty decent team. They are also 100X better than the [censored] that WVU has played.

There are only goign to be 2 maybe 3 teams max that will go undefeated so arguring over who is #5 or better right now is dumb. Lets at least get through 4-5 conference games before we start deciding who is better based on who beat who.

not who I'd vote for in an AP method
not any ranking equation

from what i've seen with my very own 2 eyes

took my name out of the title as it was too egotistical and tdarko did a better job at carrying the last thread than me anyway

1. Ohio State up 1 as they win a big game on the road rather easily against a #13 team that played well and Auburn really struggled
2. Auburn down 1 from last week--made South Carolina's offense look good
3. LSU up 1--continues to dominate offensively and defensively...very rounded team
4. USC down 1--injury issues and its offense is looking shaky
5. Louisville the same--off-week before putting up 70 on MTSU
6. Michigan up 2--offense remains a balanced show. Defense proved it's not a fluke by shutting down Wisconsin and Minnesota back-2-back. Needs Breaston to step up or Manningham to run more than a go route to move up IMO.
7. Texas down 1--creamed a cream puff. This weekend is a true barometer to see how far they've come since tOSU.
8. Florida down 1--beat Bama as expected. We'll see how Leak handles pressure this week. Injury to Wynn hurts.
9. West Virginia same--off-week, let's see how they do verse Miss St.
10. Tennessee new--demolished a nobody. Has the best win and toughest loss of any of the one loss teams. Get to prove themselves again this weekend

dropped out-Georgia
they just don't have the offense

Sagarin ratings by conference:

1 - Pac-10
2 - Big-10
3 - SEC
4 - Big 12

the computers are probably wrong though, i'm sure 5 of the top 11 teams in the country are from the SEC, and 4 from the other top 3 conferences.
