c) not being a grown-up and saying "Hey, I'm really getting sick and tired of this b.s. with you two arguing every little point with me. I want it to stop."

[/ QUOTE ]

Ooh, do this! Whining to them about it is definitely the way to make them stop.

It's getting bad that they will disagree with everything I say and belittle me when I make points that are correct by disagreeing in a condescending way.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd like to see a transcript of one of these exchanges.

[/ QUOTE ]

Okay. Tonight the argument that brought about this post:

ass1: did you plant those seeds over there?

me: yeah but I didn't put topsoil over them so I'm afraid the bugs will eat them

ass2: bugs don't eat seeds [censored]

me: yes they do

ass2: no they dont

me: yes they do, they have nutrients in them

ass2: oh yeah, like what? (In a challenging tone)

me: like fat and carbs

ass1: oh yeah right, plants have fat? Hahaha

ass2: hahahah

me: yes.... have you not heard of vegetable oil?

ass2: that's oil, oil isn't fat

me: omg... yes it is, have you ever looked at the label on peanut butter, etc?

them: (realizing they are wrong) no that’s completely different, the oil turns to fat inside the body

me: *head about to explode*

both of them: you have no idea what you are talking about, oh right, so if you eat vegetables you will get fat? right? blah blah blah, don't forget to trim the fat off your asparagus, etc etc etc for maybe 15 minutes unprovoked

I look it up on wiki, okay I’m right, probably one of the dumbest arguments ever but wtf, I'm relaxing next to my pool while they laugh between each other about a subject they know nothing about just to provoke me.

I don't get angry. It took me standing up and saying that if he want's to keep [censored] with me he can fight me, he said okay fine and that ended it for a moment until that broke off in to some dumb argument about how seeds don't need fertilizer to grow in to a full plant because seeds can germinate in a paper towel without fertilizer.

Some of the dumbest [censored] imaginable.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm guessing the collective I.Q. never exceeds room temperature.

You should spend less time trying to prove you're right and more time telling them how stupid they are.

Here's a better way to handle this conversation:

ass2: no they dont

me: yes they do, you fu*&ing moron

[/ QUOTE ]

End of conversation.

You want to antagonize them, rather than have them antagonize you. Don't try and introduce facts because you'll give them more ammunition.

Also, all of the fat animals on the planet eat plants, not meat. Cows, hippos, elephants, etc.

End of convo. Don't start conversations with stupid people. Also don't let stupid people make you their bitch, and if they do it even once end it before a pattern forms. Too late, your only way out is to get a girl friend and move out.

Girls don't usually like guys that let stupid people make them their bitch though.

You're That Guy. Speaking as an ex-That Guy, the advice I can offer is this:

1) Stop trying to ingratiate yourself to these people. Trying to 'patch it up' or 'keep it friendly' with people who have no respect for you is a staggering waste of time. If you have to keep living there (and I wouldn't), speak when spoken to and answer direct questions with no chit-chat. These guys aren't your friends. Friends are people you know, like and trust.

2) Fight = not so good a plan. These don't sound like the type to agree to tape up and step outside, or anything. You'd probably have to just attack one of them, and then you'd end up looking like a goddamn lunatic. No, what you need to do is to go through a series of experiences that somehow ends up making you intrinsically cooler. The best way to not get [censored] with is to somehow become the sort of person that people don't [censored] with. Maybe it's an image problem. Do you look sorta ridiculous? If so, take whatever steps you need to to look less ridiculous.
