I had discovered Rand while in Paris and that really sparked my interest in libertarianism and political philosophy. By January 2006 I had become an anarcho-capitalist, a libertarian with a capital L, i.e. you can ask me any question beginning with "should government do x" and my answer will be no. I was influence in no small way by various members of the 2+2 politics board and of course the writings of people like Murray Rothbard and David Friedman.

I don't want this thread to get too political or heated, but ugh please tell me you don't actually take Rand's philosophy (not economic theory) seriously? Tough to hear from someone with good taste in music

Rand isn't consistent enough for me.

In all seriousness, I like the heroic portrayal of the individual, in general, and I still really enjoy Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead. But her pure philosophical work is pretty meh, at a certain point.
