Well, when I started out, I tried a little NLTP, and it was a disaster. I switched to the formulaic approach, and it worked much better. Still, though, I found myself making some big pots with hands that didn't want them. I was just starting to deviate a little more again. I think that the formula is great, actually. It's a great way to start out. Once you've played with it for 20k hands, though, you might start to see its weaknesses. I think that on this subject, and all subjects, really, the NLTP approach is superior, but in the hands of a new or even moderately experienced player, it can be an utter trainwreck.
