99/100 I laydown to this river c/r but I felt that I had a good read that this type of player does not play this hand this way with a flush draw or a straight. I felt that they could have had top pair. If the T on the flop is not a spade but the 8 is a space I make this laydown.

Your thoughts on possible range of villain here and how wise a call is?

Thanks,
Wally

This river bet looks awful to me. Its just asking to get check-raised and its spewing to call one. The turn card was bad but not nasty. The river was awful for you *everything* just got there.

Just check behind and be happy to show down your set without any further aggro.

What is a good size then for my river bet or is there no such thing because this should be an automatic check and showdown regardless of any reads.

Unless villain is a HUGE station your bet has no value. What do you think he's calling with here that you beat?

Edit: thought you were first to act, I check behind.

I really wanna see a showdown here for a lot of reasons, so I check behind.

1. See his hand: Lets get a little bit clearer of a read
2. I have showdown value
3. I dont wanna be c/r, since this actually is a bad card v. a good card for you.

I'd make a decision on the turn, things are getting unpleasant, but BB is not doing much.

I either check for pot control, or I bet the pot.

Bet the pot is my default here, I am ahead might as well get some more in the middle.

I am ready to throw it away if all goes wrong on the river, coz there are still plenty of yummy implied odds available given stack sizes.

$7 has fallen between two stools.

River.
Well its all gone horribly wrong but thank goodness villian has checked coz I am checking behind just about everytime (barring some sort of brainstorm).
If villian shows me the flush I laugh in his tricky playing face.

But you have choosen a really weak river bet which can open the door for a river bluff.

Either way that check raise has now made life a lot more misreable.

Thanks everyone, after seeing this now I see that this is an easy check and showdown.

Last comment is that the villain here was a thinking player and he saw he could attack. When I called he showed AdTd.

I would check the turn for pot control. That wasn't the best card to fall tbh. River is the most obvious check in the history of poker. Squeezing another $8 from someone with a crappy TP or w/e is not worth the risk.
