Winstar to start serving booze?
I just got back from playing at Choctaw and one of the old guys at my table said he talked to the entertainment director, or tournament director, or something director, and they told him they were going to start serving booze.
I have not heard of this before, but then again, I had no reason to ask. Anyone heard anything about this, or can anyone ask next time they go? |
Re: Winstar to start serving booze?
It's on their list of things they are trying to get passed, along with other table games.
Who knows when it might happen. |
Re: Winstar to start serving booze?
Yeah, keep hope alive, but don't hold your breath.

(Cherokee casino in Tulsa serves alcohol). I think table games, however, is a state law. That might be awhile for sure. |
Re: Winstar to start serving booze?
I was at Winstar yesterday and heard some guys saying something about putting drunks on the highway back to Dallas and didn't know what they were talking about, maybe this was it.
It could be "we'll serve booze soon" just like "the new room will open next week." If so, they may serve booze sometime in 2013 or so. |
Re: Winstar to start serving booze?
People at Winstar have a tendency to talkk about what they would LIKE to happen as if it's going to happen when they really have no idea what they're talking about.

Re: Winstar to start serving booze?
Well I did hear it at a poker table in an Indian casino. And I just read it on the internet (albeit in my own post above) so it MUST BE TRUE. Poker table talk and internet forums are where I get all my information and I'm pretty sure both are always dead on.

Now, re-read my post where I say that it was probably just wistful/wishful talk on the parts of various people. If you've ever been to Winstar and heard people talking, you've probably heard PLENTY of it and should have become accustomed to tuning it down. EDIT: added "probably" |

I was in kind of a snappy mood last night. I apologize. |
Re: Winstar to start serving booze?
Ain't no thing, I was kinda snappy there too, which is why I added the "probably".
But really, have you heard some of the babble these people put out? I really turned into a nit last night, I couldn't abide the awful Midwestern grandma babbling incessantly about the bad beat jackpot after the board came 5JJ55. "We're going to hit the jackpot!" "No we aren't." K5 gets flipped over and... the other player mucks. Whee! |
Re: Winstar to start serving booze?
In the other winstar thread, you said the new room handles the weekend crowds "gracefully" or something like that.
Can you go into a little more detail? Does this mean there are no waits anymore, or just not three hours / 100 people? |
Re: Winstar to start serving booze?
My understanding was they didn't serve because they are an 18 and up casino. I may be wrong though.

Re: Winstar to start serving booze?
"gracefully":
The longest I've had to wait since the new room got started was about an hour. I pretty much only play 4/8, and yesterday there were maybe 6 people on the list in front of me with 5 tables running. I've had a few times where I got seated right away (once at 5/10 O8), and most of the time, the wait is under an hour comfortably. (I have no real sense of the time unless I intend to.) As for the baby no limit games, they seem to get filled at a steady clip, and new tables are opened relatively frequently. Longest list I've seen for something was maybe 12 names. So yeah, smooth sailing. I hope I made sense on this one... |
Re: Winstar to start serving booze?
Has the 5/10NL been running continuously? Or when does it break/restart? A certain poster in this thread has been pestering me to go to this Indian tent in the middle of nowhere and I may have no choice but to succumb and play..

Re: Winstar to start serving booze?
Great...serve booze. I'm all for it, though I don't drink. I need all the help I can get...maybe I'll have a better chance against a drunk. I'll stick to my banana, box of raisins, and diet Pepsi.
---------------------------------- The new room has cut the wait time significantly...and this last weekend we actually had a 10/20 limit game...first time I've ever seen that. With the old room, a 6/12 was all that was available other than 4/8, and it didn't last long. I think the new room will begin to bring out more players and will provide the flexibility to spread more games. How long before there's an hour wait at the new room? |
Re: Winstar to start serving booze?
As far as I can tell, the 5/10NL has always been running when I'm there. Usually only one table, sometimes two on the weekends, so that list can get long. I'm usually there after 7pm on weeknights. Weekend days, it varies as to when I'm there, but if you stick to standard hours and are willing to wait and play 2/5 NL in the meantime, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Re: Winstar to start serving booze?
If we have a 2+2 meetup, I would reeeeeally like to try to get them to spread a mixed games table. HOE, 4/8, 5/10? No kill, I'm a poor boy from Denton.
