Very simple QQ checkup
Villian is a total unknown he just sat down.
Full Tilt Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.50/$1 6 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $166.90 UTG+1: $122.85 Hero: $187.15 Button: $96 SB: $192.40 BB: $109.40 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is CO with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 folds, Hero raises to $3.5, Button raises to $12, 2 folds, Hero calls. The plan being to bet/fold and give him credit for AA/KK/TT. If he's got JJ, oh well. |
Re: Very simple QQ checkup
I play it the same. I tend to give credit to 3-bets against unknowns.
|
Re: Very simple QQ checkup
I usually check/call in these overpair situations all day and reevaluate turn
|
Re: Very simple QQ checkup
With no reads this is what I will do as well.
|
Re: Very simple QQ checkup
Another option is to c/c this flop. Most times c/f turn.
|
Re: Very simple QQ checkup
What's your line if he calls? Are you ever seeing a showdown here?

Re: Very simple QQ checkup
i dont see what bet folding rly does. I used to do it a lot. I guess it stops us being 2 barrelled off the best hand. I guess adds some protection. But it rly loses a bit of value i feel
|
Re: Very simple QQ checkup
Is this a case of turning the hand into a bluff?
I thought c/c was standard in this situation...? |
Re: Very simple QQ checkup
I prefer c/r or c/c
|
Re: Very simple QQ checkup
You check call and turn is a blank. Now you are playing for stacks.
It does greatly devalue your hand to bet the flop, but how much are you making from a worse hand here (probably AK) anyway? |
Re: Very simple QQ checkup
Or maybe check raise that flop then let him have the tough decision
|
Re: Very simple QQ checkup
If the 100nl at ft is playing anything like the 200/400nl has been recently(particularly post ban) whatever line I take won't include folding.
My preferred line is c/c c/r all in on turn though. If turn gets checked through I'll c/c most rivers. QQ is the new KK. I don't tend to do alot of folding w/ it. Paul |

[/ QUOTE ] Not true. I find that AK will rarely double barrel here in these spots. So the action will usually go c/c on the turn if he has AQ/AK. I'm not too concerned w. him hitting his 6 outer. I think we will usually be able to check it down (sometimes c/c river) most times if he has missed overs. |

Re: Very simple QQ checkup
That's a bit different though Paul. My villian is a complete unknown.

Re: Very simple QQ checkup
I don't like bet/folding here. You're giving an unknown too much credit, IMO.
Without read, c/c, reevaluate on turn (and I'd lead out often on safe turns). Against bad players and/or maniacs, I like a flop CR. |

That's a bit different though Paul. My villian is a complete unknown. [/ QUOTE ] Thats what I was trying to say in my original post. The average unknown(and even seemingly snug known tags) seem to be much more aggresive recently. I don't know whether this is the case at the 100s though. If you think it isn't then I like c/c flop c/f turn. If turn gets checked through c/c non A/K rivers. Paul |
Re: Very simple QQ checkup
Paul,
I'm stacking off w. QQ at 2/4 almost all day on an underboard. 100nl is alot different though (imo). |
