Default Overpair, checked to on turn

Competent villain, 20/17/4.5 over 200 hands.

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

UTG ($98)
Hero ($233.70)
CO ($120.35)
Button ($102.60)
SB ($159.60)

Preflop: Hero is MP with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
1 fold, Hero raises to $3.5, 2 folds, SB raises to $12, 1 fold, Hero calls $8.

Flop: ($24.50) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets $18, Hero calls $18.

Turn: ($60.50) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $42, SB calls $42.

River: ($144.50) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: $144.50

Hand seems pretty standard to me, but a couple of thoughts. Do we always bet this turn so not to give AK or AQ a free look at the river? If we check behind turn, does villain fire at a blank river with AK or AQ often enough to stop us from getting a free showdown?

given villain, river check looks good. the only hand you could squeeze any more money out of is TT. he looks like he is slowing down with JJ+ because that board is scary for sets. i river vb is too thin imo. nh

I would never vb river but I may try to bluff because villain's line looks to be 100% TT+. The street I took the most time on was the turn because I'm very split between checking and betting there. A check on the turn also gives a chance for TT and JJ to move us off of our hand on the river though.

a bluff has a good shot to work here. opponent looks like a thinking player. and that board is godawful for overpairs if he thinks you were trying to hit a set on him. (very plausible given preflop action.) id shy away from that play though, since your hand does have some showdown value. but i dont hate it either.

i liked the turn bet btw.
