I'd like to know what the best books are to become a better poker/hold'em player. I've played with friends way in the past and it seems like 'real' games are much more mathmatical and psychological. What are the best books out there to get me in the game and get me on the plus side.

These are listed in the order in which you should read them. In my opinion.
NL Tournaments: Ed Miller: Getting Started In Hold'em Blair Rodman: Kill Phil Dan Harrington: Harrington On Hold'em, Volumes 1 & 2 Limit Ring: Ed Miller: Getting Started In Hold'em Ed Miller: Small Stakes Hold'em King Yao: Weighing The Odds in Hold'em Poker David Sklansky/Mason Malmuth: Hold'em Poker for Advanced Players NL Ring: Ed Miller: Getting Started In Hold'em Bob Ciaffone/Steward Reuben: No Limit and Pot Limit Poker General Poker: John Feeney: Inside The Poker Mind Don't bother with the Super/Systems or Middle Limit Hold'em or Lee Jones' book or even Hilger's book. They're not going to help you right now. Read them later, if you want other perspectives. Hope this is of some help to you, i cannot take any responsibility for it - the glory should go to SheridanCat who posted it in the Beginners Section recently |
