Default Semi-Bluffing and the Turn

No hand history available, too lazy to look through WPEX hand history folder and find it.

WPEX 0.05/0.10 $10 NL y'all

Hero is Button with J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Folded to CO, CO limps, Hero raises .40, SB folds, BB calls, CO folds.

Flop: Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
BB checks, Hero bets .70, BB calls .70

Turn: A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
BB checks, Hero?

My draw just got stronger, do I keep betting and hope for a fold or just check behind and get the free card?

Next Question:

How big of a second barrel? Pot is currently $2.35.

1/2 - 2/3 sound safe? Like a $1.50 or so for this pot?

It depends on the villain, against a known calling station obviously check after. Against anything semi-decent 2nd barrel the bastard.

And yeah 2/3 2nd barrel sounds good, a value bet from me would also be seized that much.

TBH, I am often checking behind in these spots. I get to the turn and I'm like "OMG I GOT A DRAW AND A FREE CARD IS ON THE WAY!!", then I miss the river and they win the showdown with their K8o.

To all advocating the second barrel here....are we betting with the intent of calling a C/R AI or whaaa?

Easiest 2nd barrel ever. Even the densest player can't help thinking omg maybe he has an ace. And even if he's a station, he could have a pair of eights or worse and then a call would be pretty astonishing.

How would you play KQ/QJ here?

betting, meh. If you had a made hand already you would be protecting your hand in this spot. I dont expect villian to fold though unless he is drawing himself. and if you make your hand on the river you might not get paid off that much.
