Default 25NL: Turning QQ into a bluff?

I don't remember much about this guy because he wasn't at the table long. I hadn't seen him go crazy before.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

MP ($2.65)
Hero ($30.90)
SB ($67.77)
BB ($41.35)
UTG ($24.90)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.10.
UTG raises to $0.75, 1 fold, Hero raises to $2.75, 2 folds, UTG calls $2.

Flop: ($5.85) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks.

Turn: ($5.85) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $2.5

Looks fine to me. You can check the river behind if he checks. He probably calls this turn with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]x or whatever.

I probably bet a little more for value. Looks fine though.

I would bet the flop to see where you are. I see three possibilities
1) he has an A and will call/raise
2) he has a club and will probably call (I find a lot chase this at 25NL)
3) he has a made hand and you're probably going to let go on the river if he bets assuming you both check the turn.
I would fold to any raise.

As played, I like the bet, I think you're ahead here more than you think. That's the reason I would have bet the flop in the first place.

It's not a bluff. No one will fold an A here. It's for value/protection imo.

I think I would have put out a bet on the flop here, around 1/2 to 3/4 of the pot. If he does have an ace, he likely doesn't want this hand to continue much further unless he's got a high club kicker.

If he calls that and no club or otherwise bad card comes, I'd put in another bet, make him pay to see the end. If he does, I'd be looking to check behind on the river.

I do both. I tend to bet with less reads and if my image is good. They will play their hand pretty straightforward then. But checking is fine too, but you can't take much heat so you hope that they check turn too. So I check against passive or decent players who won't donk with a wide range if I check flop.

I bet the flop because if you had AK in this spot you would bet to protect against the club draw.
