Default Do I need to rent a car while in Vegas for the WSOP?

I feel kinda dumb asking this but I've never been to vegas before.

Thanks

Latest thinking is the following:

1. It is really [censored] hot in Vegas during the summer (it's been upwards of 109 degrees this week).
2. Walking is a bitch when it is 109 degrees.
3. Cabs have gotten increasingly expensive in Vegas.
4. If you're 25 or over, you can probably get a good enough deal on a rental car to make it cheap enough.

Conclusion: Unless you have hiked through desert before, I'd go with the rental car.

A good case of sunburn and dehydration could be good for my poker game.

Would a convertible be stupid out there? Way too hot for the top down?

Dollar is the cheapest. After all the taxes you can get a car for $150 per week. That's the best I have found and I am pretty sure that is the best I am going to find.

Too hot for the top down? Eh?

A convertible would rule.

You can get a rental for the week for $150 or less. When you add up the cab fare to and from the airport and trips to and from other casinos (the Rio is not within walking distance from anything) it will cost you nothing to rent a car. Add to that cab lines can sometimes be a joke and the freedom of having your own car and it is a no-brainer.

Everyone warns you about how hot it is here in the summer, but I've been here 3 weeks and it's not nearly as bad as everyone says. I'm from Illinois, where the summers are a little cooler, but much more humid. The lack of humidity makes all the difference.

If you're staying close, I'd say hoof it, or get a cab for the times you don't want to. Also, with a rental car you have to deal with parking, which can be annoying, and traffic, which is [censored] in vegas.
