I\'ve been offered to be staked in the WSOP. Good deal?
Being a "local celebrity" (don't ask), and decent poker player, a local casino has offered to stake me in the WSOP. For the record, I'm going to play in the WSOP this year whether I take this deal or not.
They will pay my entry fee into a $2000 WSOP NL event, cover the airfare, about $400, and hotel for 5 nights, another $600. They'll throw in an additional $300 for food/taxis/etc. Total investment for them is about $3,300. In return I would give them half of what I win AFTER I take off $10,000 for a main event entry, provided I cash in the $2000 event. Example: If I cash for $40,000, I take off $10,000 and then split the $30,000 with them. Here's the kicker. IF I cash in the $2,000 event and enter the main event, they automatically get half of anything I cash. Again, they would pay airfare, $400, hotel, $1,200 this time as I might be there 10 days, and $500 for food/etc. A goot deal?

I would take that deal even if they took 100% of my profit.

[/ QUOTE ] VEGAS BABY In all seriousness, why not just take the deal and play the 2K Phil Ivey style (build up a huge stack or go broke quick). That way you either get a huge score or they pay for the trip you were going to take anyway and you can still buy into the 10K and keep all your winnings.

This is an excellent deal for you; there's no reason not to take it unless you think you could negotiate a better arrangement from someone else.
