Folding KK?
I'm in a cash game, in for $10, blinds .25-.5. I have $24. I'm 2nd to act. 1st to act straddles $1. I'm dealt KK(red), so I raise to $4. Person left of me pushes all in for $15. One player calls with $6 and is also all in. Everyone else folds to me.
I fold, thinking he has AA. He shows AK Spades, and I'm a little steamed. I think it was the right fold, considering that I showed strength and he re-raised, but I'm not 100% sure. Any insights? Was it a good fold, or should I have called with KK? Obviously, by the FTC of poker, it was the wrong move. But considering what I knew, should I have called? |

Re: Folding KK?
This leads me to a general question:
When is it ok to fold great hands like AA and KK? |

When is it ok to fold great hands like AA and KK? [/ QUOTE ] Preflop? Never AA (except in very rare satellite situations), and almost never KK (without exceptional reads, and a huge amount of action before us). On the hand in question it's a call by a wide wide margin. |

Re: Folding KK?
I folded KK once when me and my opponent were both 300BB deep.

So, I should've called for sure? It just seemed he had rockets, considering he raised my raise, which shows strength.

[/ QUOTE ] With the stacks involved, and the equity in the pot, the big stack would have to show me aces before I folded. In this situation there's no player that plays tight enough to make this a fold without 100% certainty he has AA. If the $6 all-in guy shows aces, I still call in a heartbeat. |

Re: Folding KK?
Good point. Well, I'll try and remember that next time.

Re: Folding KK?
Depending upon the stakes, I simply won't let go of KK. I have seen far too many re-raises with 77-QQ and AK/AQ to ever let go of it in those situations. Rarely I will lose a bit pot to AA, but mostly I will just get my money in with the best.
As the stakes get more rarified I would expect this call to become drastically less profitable. Again, one must know their oppoenents. |

Re: Folding KK?
CALL, this shows nothing..especially with the stacks. He could have 55 for christs sake. I vote call here 100% of the time. The only way you are folding preflop with KK is when you are both at least 70bbs deep and you have a great read on your opponent

Suffice it to say that I really don't care for your play. I don't think it is even close. |
