Default Pot Control with JJ vs. known 2p2\'er

In my pursuit to become a better player and moving up to 100NL, I am trying to break the weak-tight mold, which is creating other leaks in my game. Here is a hand against another known 2p2'er .

Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.50/$1
6 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $24.95
Hero: $98
CO: $80.45
Button: $192.10
SB: $118.25
BB: $38.35

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is UTG+1 with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
UTG folds, Hero raises to $3.5, CO folds, Button calls, 2 folds.

Flop: K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($8.5, 2 players)
Hero bets $7, Button calls.

Turn: K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($22.5, 2 players)
Hero ???

I am conflicted for these two reasons.

1) A weak bet will probably get me pushed off my hand.
2) A strong bet will bloat the pot. I want to show this down, preferably for a near pot bet on the river.

Which line do you take, check or bet and if bet what is the bet size?

If he's a known 2P2er, then there should be some description of his playing style, yes? What are his stats? Is he TAG or LAG? Does he play his top pairs/sets passively on the flop? All of this effects your decision making process. Does he know how you play?

Based on how you played the hand, I would check the turn and revaluate. Against some players, I lay it down; against others, I fold.

You may want to have checked the flop and see what happens. Against good players, I try taking this line from time to time. The problem with betting here is that you are getting no value if he thinks you have a K and are in a lot of trouble if he has a big draw/K/represents a K/represents a made flush/etc. etc.

The last part is true if you know I have exactly what I hold. With the percentage that people raise preflop and CBet flops, my flop play really indicates little about my hand. I guess this is why I am focusing on the turn play since this will indicate to my opponent if I hold something or I am giving up after a cbet.

If he's a known 2p2'er, no harm in telling us who he is.

I would tend to check here, interested to hear any views on why betting is better.

fair enough. However, bloating a pot even on the flop on this board is very, very suspect. You're going to run into a lot of problems on the turn (which you did), especially against a decent opponent who likes to float/make moves and has shown credibility with those moves in the past. I advocate checking here unless I know my opponent well. I try or make him make a decision as to how much to bet. If he bets a good amount, fine. If he makes a mistake, I try to catch him on it. I re-evaluate turn. But that's just me - the standard here is to bet once, bet twice, and then if you run into multiple scare cards on the river, check and hope that you don't have to face losing your stack.
