Rigged?

Earlier today a friend of mine who was in love with poker a month ago and claimed he was great at it and always won money, is now saying that most of these websites lure you in by letting you win money when you first start, and then as time goes on they dont give you any cards and steal your money? Is this guy full of crap or what? I havent played for years but I have been playing for about 6 months and from what I have seen this is not true at all. From many of the posters on this board it would seem as though poker is a very profitable business if you play it right. Also many people continually come up to me and say they know someone who lost thousands of dollars playing online poker. Its very detouring to me when I hear things like this, because I think I am good but when I go on a bad streak I start thinking to myself that its rigged and im going to lose all of my money. What does everyone think? Complete BS or some truth?

You'd be best served by completely ignoring what your friend says relating to the subject of poker. Nobody wins all the time and poker is not rigged.

I used to believe poker was rigged and found my worst fears to be true. There is an embedded mechanism that punishes bad play over time.

He sucks, it's no mystery. To rebuild his ego and ridiculous self image he has to lie about losing his money. If he went around telling you "Hey, i built a big roll but donked it off on stupid calls and dumass moves." What would your image of him be. It's simple, he sucks...so he lies. I've played chess the last three years...and any time i completely dominated anyone online (especially the FIDE Masters or International Masters), i was always ridiculed for being a "prog" or someone using chess software to win. Funny thing is i have a about 5 tourney IRL and all over 2000 performance ratings and like three 2200+. He's just either compensating for a small penis, or trying to convince himself by convincing you he doesn't suck. Don't listen to him...
