Default Manny being Manny

Manny Rameriz made an "agreement" with the Red Sox and will not show up until March 1st. The WBC is scheduled to start March 2nd and now Boston media is saying he will not be playing for the Dominican Republic nor any team (he's US eligible since he is a US citizen). I'm not sure if Bud Selig is going to like this as the WBC seems to be MLB new international marketing wheel; I guess we'll find out in a few weeks.

As a season ticket holder, I'm indifferent as I'd rather pamper the best hitter with runners on base over the last 10yrs than not have him on the Red Sox.

With the way the media is in Boston, things could get ugly in a hurry if people start to get sick of the "Manny being Manny" routine.

I am, of course, hoping that happens very soon.

People will put up with a lot so long as he's helping us stay in contention. Hell, if he stopped missing easy pop flies and threw the ball right, I'd let him do my mom.

I agree, except I think it's as long as they keep winning.

From the ESPN.com story:

"Manny is in Florida completing an extensive training regimen and is prepared to have an exceptional season," said a joint statement from Ramirez and the team that was released by the Red Sox on Tuesday.

He has been having exceptional seasons for years. Look at his On base plus slugging. That guy is a [censored] slugging machine.

"the best hitter with runners on base over the last 10yrs"

He's the best hitter PERIOD over the last 10 years. And I'm a Yankee fan.
