I dunno.. I just find that the more I know about a subject, the easier it is to talk about, so be prepared.

Other than that, telling stories, and remembering that everyon e is human helps.

I almost never get nervous myself, but I think it has something to do with having no shame whatsoever.

For some reason, I have a feeling that people who have trouble speaking in public are the kind that had trouble laughing at their mistakes as kids.

I've been in EXACTLY this situation, so I feel for you. First, make sure you know what you're presenting cold. If it's your work, remember this: No one knows this stuff as well as you (with the exception of your boss, and he/she should be on your side). Second, remember that these people are your colleagues. For the most part, they aren't going to try to make you look bad or embarass you. They likely want you to do well. Don't view the inevitable questions as challenges, but as one colleague asking another a question (also, sometimes "I don't know" is a perfectly acceptable answer).

And, I'm not kidding about this part: if it's in the afternoon, I almost always have a beer before I do something like this. It's helped with my nerves in the past.

Be absolutely prepared, even practice in advance. DOn't try to wing anything. Confidence stems from excellent preparation.
