So far this upgrading to HD for sports has been filled with pain. Although I did get a little giddy when I hooked my PowerBook up to the TV...

Beat: Lost $2000 in three hands playing PLO
Brag: It was playmoney
Variance: Some players had 9000BB stacks, oh and I got to hold a 10 foot Boa Constrictor yesterday. It was rather sedate, couldn't quite understand why those darn trees it was in constantly was moving it about though.

I did my tilt-win a dollar at 0.02/0.04 routine and decided to donate it along with another 1.50 to the NL people (this is another first), I never played NL cash outside play money (ergo I have no idea how, what do I know ... everyone else was playing every hand). Stacked someone with AA on the 10th hand or so... then this little nugget. WTF is wrong with me.

Poker Stars
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.01/$0.02
5 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $3.78
CO: $2.53
Button: $1.17
Xylocain: $5.59
BB: $3

Pre-flop: (5 players) Xylocain is SB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
UTG folds, CO calls, Button raises to $0.04, Xylocain calls, BB calls, CO calls.

Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($0.16, 4 players)
Xylocain checks, BB bets $0.44, CO calls, Button folds, Xylocain raises all-in $5.55, BB calls all-in $2.52, CO calls all-in $2.05.
Uncalled bets: $2.59 returned to Xylocain.

If you are rather sure that noone is going to reraise, your call preflop is perhaps not bad, the flop looks ok to me, quite a few times you will cash in against made straights or even a A or K of clubs not improving, but you do need to get it all in at the flop as you did.

X, at the risk of talking strategy in NC you played the hand fine. The pre-flop call of the min-raise is a no-brainer. If your opponents' stack sizes had been larger I might not have pulled the all-in move but given that the largest opposing stack was 6x the flop bet an all-in move seems by far the best way to protect your very vulnerable hand. You can't afford to pussyfoot around with a slowplaying call since your hand is very beatable or a 3x re-raise since your opponents will be pot committed and all the rest of the money will go in anyway on the turn with your situation perhaps being much worse after that card falls. Far better to try to take the hand down immediately and if your opponents call the large bet they won't be getting proper odds to chase.

Thanks for the strat replies Java and Origami maybe I'll try out NL again sometime. The quality of players at the lowest level there seems like 1/5 of the quality of your average 0.02/0.04 LHE player

but I still think my biggest leak my horrendous river play in that hand which is the same kind of mistake that manifested in my KK<JJ hand ... ^^^

I dont gamble on horse races cos u know, gambling is bad mkay. But I will go in the office pool, draw some skanky 500-1 shot and continue my lifetime streak of never ever winning anything in a melbourne cup office pool.
