Shoving river would be way too thin though, right?

A shove is burning money; he will not call with a lonely 8 or 9 and he wont call at all with a busted FD and a weak ace doesnt appear to be part of his range here.

I would agree with this if the river weren't a seven, it's a relative blank for his range but he v well could have played T8, T9 this way.

I would just shove. If he called to the river with a pair, he did it thinking you're full of [censored]. If that's his thought process, he will continue to think as such on the river and will likely call a river shove.

shove is much better than a small vb. the only way he calls with worse is if he thinks you are full of [censored]/likes hero calling.
