700:1 vs. 800:1 LCD contrast ratio
I'm trying to decide between two 22" monitors, both of which have a brightness of 300 cd/m2. One of them has a contrast ratio of 700:1, the other 800:1. The 700:1 monitor is $30 cheaper. If I were using the monitor as a PC monitor I would get the 700:1 model, but I'll be using this as a secondary TV screen and watching it from across the room.
Anyone know if there's going to be a noticeable difference between the two? Price is not a huge issue, but I don't want to spend the $30 for nothing. |

Re: 700:1 vs. 800:1 LCD contrast ratio
If you're going to use it as a TV screen you better check what type of panel it is. Viewing angle is pretty important for TVs, since you'll often be watching with multiple people and you won't always be in the same place. TN type panels have AWFUL viewing angles, and LOTS of 22" displays have TN panels.
