Which the risk averse social players don't seem to mind. Much like the chip stacks for tournaments, they don't care, they are there to chat and enjoy themselves. I don't mind this at all, different strokes and all.

But I know for a fact that there are a number of players that would at least play the tourneys if there were a better structure.

Rather than attracting the risk averse player, the high BB to buy in ratio engenders a much looser playing style and leads to an action packed game. When your Big Blind equals 4% of your buy-in you can't afford to sit around waiting for the nuts. The action is much juicier than ,say, Stars or Tilt or Absolute. This is one of the keys that make TP a worthwhile site, IMO. I would not want to see this change. It would change and destroy the dynamic of an action game.

Ya.. it makes for some truly awful play. When the bigger omaha games ran it was so fun.

Cliff notes: Documented experience, whereby it takes almost a month to set up a TruePoker account, with no viable progress on the horizon.

I thought this experience might be instructive. I think I'm a relatively above-average volume player on PP, with some play on PS as well.

So, the talk of TruePoker made it sound interesting.

Back on July 10 I sent this email to affiliates@truepoker.com

[ QUOTE ]
Dear Truepoker,

Until recently, I have been a regular player at PartyPoker. They have
recently made obtaining rakeback very difficult.

Consequently, I'm looking for a new site. I play mostly 50c/$1 and
$1/$2 NL, and SNGs with buyins around $50.

What are you able to offer in the way of rakeback and/or prop playing
at those levels?

In addition, what is the maximum number of tables that a player is
able to play at one time at your site?

I'm contacting you because I saw the excellent customer service levels
by your CEO at the twoplustwo forums where I am a regular poster (sn:
Josem)

regards,

Michael

[/ QUOTE ]

On July 18 I sent this email (to same address):

[ QUOTE ]
TruePoker,

Below is an email I sent to you over a week ago. It would be really
nice if you were to respond.

Following this email, I see that there are a number of affiliates that
offer 27% rakeback, plus 5% for the affiliate. If I were to sign up
as an affiliate myself, would it be possible to effectively refer
myself to your service?

regards,

Michael

(snipped copied email from above)

[/ QUOTE ]

I got a response from TP the following day (July 19):

[ QUOTE ]
Michael,

Yes, but you would have to create two separate accounts, and Affiliate
account and then the account you would play with. I apologize for the delay
in responding to your email.

Regards,

Affiliates Department
TruePoker.com

[/ QUOTE ]

So, being the decent boy that I am, I followed their direction within a few minutes of receiving their email.

I received an automated confirmation email instantly:

[ QUOTE ]
Dear Michael Josem,

Thank you for signing up for the True Poker Affiliate Program. Your information has been sent to our Affiliate manager for review, and you will receive your unique affiliate code and username and password very shortly.

After you receive your affiliate code, head to our Banner Farm at http://www.truepoker.com/affiliate_banner.html where you can select from tons of great banners and text links to use on your site.

As always, if you have any questions, email us at affiliates@truepoker.com.

Thanks again, and welcome to the True Poker Team!

Sincerely,
The True Poker Crew

[/ QUOTE ]

Then, not having heard anything since 19 July, I waited until 23 July, and sent this:

[ QUOTE ]
Dear TP,

Any word on this from four days ago?

regards,
Michael
(snipped copied email from above)

[/ QUOTE ]

I waited a week from my affiliate signup, still having not received any details, and sent this on 26 July:

[ QUOTE ]
Dear TP,

Any word on this from a week ago?

regards,
Michael

[/ QUOTE ]

Following day, a Friday Australian time, I sent this email in the morning of 27 July. I wanted to play some poker over the weekend and check out their site:
[ QUOTE ]
Dear TruePoker,

I don't mean to be annoying and/or difficult about this, but at the same time, I'm really keen to get this happening before the weekend (Australian time)

regards,
Michael

[/ QUOTE ]

around the same time, I also sent an email to management@true... on 27 July:
[ QUOTE ]
Dear TruePoker CEO,

I'm a reasonably regular poster on 2p2, and have been interested in playing at truepoker for the last few weeks.

I've sent various messages (including the most recent one, a few minutes ago) and haven't received any substanital response.

I'm Australian, and have access to Neteller etc., but I'm interested in playing on a site where I'm able to get rakeback, and I'm impressed at your posts at 2p2 - although I'm a little wary about my failure to get a response to any of my emails.

What are you able to do to help out?

regards,
Michael

[/ QUOTE ]

A few hours later, I get this reply on 27 July:
[ QUOTE ]
Thanks for the interest. I will get this going, and determine how/why it was not followed up on routinely.

(Adam, please see me this morning about this.)

David

[/ QUOTE ]

and now, minutes ago, more than a week later on 3 August, I sent this:

[ QUOTE ]
Dear TruePoker Team,

I don't mean to be difficult, but another week has passed since my last email from you.

If you don't want my custom, I respect that (although I have no idea why).

On one hand, your emails are obviously coherent and written by a real human being (which is a huge step up from PartyPoker), but on the other hand there doesn't appear to be any substantive movement. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something else I should be doing here to progress this?

regards,
Michael

[/ QUOTE ]

this is frustrating, although I guess I'm resigned to sticking with stars for the time being.

I posted my problem earlier in this thread and TruePoker CEO didn't even acknowledge it.

I was a loyal player at TruePoker and then I was shut out, without a single reason why.

Oh well.

Default Re Rakeback Affiliates signup process, thanks for the feedback

"From our Affiliates guy this morning:

Michael,
I received your request for a Rake Back Affiliate Account was accepted on July 18th. I presume that you never received the welcome message, that is automatically generated after the accounts are approved. I attached a copy of that same email.
I apologize this has taken so long, we are looking into why the email was not sent to you automatically on the 17th. If you have any other issues or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me again.
Regards,
Adam Steele
Affiliates Department
TruePoker.com"

Michael,

Apparently, the 2d separate email containing your rakeback account information, login, and passowrds was either not sent or not received on July 18th.

I sent Adam your email this morning and then walked across the hall to Adam's office and asked the process be reviewed, in two areas ... the failure to address your follow-up inquiries AND mine last week and the reliability of the affilate sign-up system in place.

You have TWO account relationships with TruePoker, one as a player and one as a rakeback affiliate .... under whom your player account will play.

I appreciate your persistence. We need feedback like yours to improve signing up affiliates. The program itself is pretty generous, but we need better, more smoothly running signups.

I'll send you a comp for your help.

TruePoker CEO
