10s raised on the button to tricky flop
I am taking some shots at NL100 and not doing so well. Villain here seems a little loose, he has been involved in more than his share of action recently. My image is 'i hope' TAG.

Re: 10s raised on the button to tricky flop
This is NL 100 or NL50?
I would typically just let this one go unless I had a read on in what situations villian donk bets. |

Re: 100NL 10s raised on the button to tricky flop
crazy huh.. thats kinda typical..only one big stack.. so i went with the flow and bought a similar sized stack to the rest. My view is that they think they give themselves an excuse to get reasonable odds and push for the fold equity.

My thinking was that his range was middle pairs JJ>, flush draw, KQ JQ also maybe + set, although he left the draw open to the flush which indicates no-set. I think i had the odds to call the all-in given the range. Was the re-raise a bit too spicy? |

Re: 10s raised on the button to tricky flop
If you want to continue with the hand, what about floating? There are a lot of opponents who will fire one barrel and give up- if so floating is cheaper than re-raising.

Re: 10s raised on the button to tricky flop
Trouble with the float is that i am giving him good'ish odds for a flush draw. My thinking was that my hand may well be good now.

Trouble with the float is that i am giving him good'ish odds for a flush draw. My thinking was that my hand may well be good now. [/ QUOTE ]It might be, but it's not really that strong of a hand. The problem with raising here (as I see it) is that you are building a big pot when you don't have a big pot hand. Sure he might have a flush draw, but there are tons of other hands in his range. If he is on a flush draw and the turn blanks, it'll be much easier to charge him for the draw in a small pot. Another point, if you float and the flush card comes, that might even be an additional out for you, as you can rep the flush and take the pot away (flat calling will look an awful lot like a draw). This is villain specific, obviously. I will float here if I think he won't two barrel or that he will fold to an apparent flush draw getting there, but if he's likly to keep coming I jsut fold. Once again, I'm not necessarily very good either, so my line might be awful |
