Any read on cutoff?

he's a poor player at limit 5/10 and 10/20. never played nl with him before and he hasn't done anything noticeable at this table since he sat down 2 orbits ago.

In that case, your only choice is to push this turn. You're simply not deep enough to get away from this hand and the flop call could mean alot of different things, many of those things we are ahead of.

Anyone else think villian might have a set here? Villian's call on the flop to me means either flush draw (you said he was a fish), or some monster like a set of 7's or 9's. You inflated the pot by overbetting the flop IMO, and now it's pretty much impossible to get away from. As played on the flop, push on the turn is a no-brainer due to stack size relative to pot size.

I bet smaller on the flop.. maybe $18. In this case it probably wouldn't make a difference in the hand, but in the future it may help with pot control (keeping pot manageable OOP).

I think I might have reraised a little less preflop (maybe $8), bet about 3/4 pot on the flop, and then 1/2 pot on a non-diamond turn, and check/called the river.

On the other hand, I like your line just fine. QQ is probably best. You give diamond draws incorrect odds to chase. You're killing AJ or KJ or QJ. There are plenty of straight and diamond flush draws that villain might be calling with. The pot gets pretty big with the large preflop raise and the flop pot bet. So, pushing the turn looks good to me. You get calls from all kinds of hands you're beating, not just the ones you're trailing. I also think your big preflop and flop bets have pretty much pot-committed you by the turn anyway.

So, given the action up to the turn, pushing looks good to me.

Guys that slow play sets on super draw-heavy boards are playing with fire, IMO. I think a set would raise here more often than smooth call. So while it's possible, it's less likely that he has a set than some other hand, like TPTK or some kind of draw.

Feels like a set of 7s or 9s to me. Maybe I am seeing monsters under the bed, though.
