I remember reading the following years ago. I shoulda listened.

Wiki on Alec Guinness ...

[ QUOTE ]
In his autobiography, Blessings In Disguise, Guinness tells an imaginary interviewer "Blessed be Star Wars!", while in the final volume of the book A Positively Final Appearance, he recounts grudgingly giving an autograph to a young fan who claimed to have watched Star Wars over a hundred times, on the condition that the fan promised to stop watching the film, because as Guinness put it "this is going to be an ill effect on your life." The fan was stunned at first, but later thanked him. Guinness grew so tired of modern audiences seeming to remember him only for his role of Obi-Wan Kenobi that he would throw away the fan mail he received from Star Wars fans, without reading it.[5]

I'm a question
Wrapped inside an enigma
Get inside the slave one
Find your homing signal

From Endor to Hoth
Ripley to Spock
I'll find what you want
But there's gonna be a cost

See, my name is Boba Fett
I know my [censored] is tight
Start not actin'right
You're frozen in carbonite

Got telescopic sight
Flame throwers on my wrist
You still don't get the gist
Spiked boots are made to kick

Targets are made to hit
You think I give a [censored]
Yo mama is a bitch
I see you in the Sarlaac Pit

You just flipped my switch
Integrity been dissed
You scratchin' on my itch
You know I shoot to get

Got bambinas at cantinas
Waitin' to lick my lusty lips
So I'll let you get back inside
Your little space ship

Give you a head start
'Cause I'm the sportin' kind
Consider the starting line
The sneaky smile I hide inside

Hope you have hyper drive (drive)
pray to stay alive ('live)
Don't try to slip me a five
'Cause I never take a bribe

To the beat of a different drummer
Bad ass bounty hunter
Let no man put asunder
Or else they be put under

As in six feet
Got an imperial fleet
Backin' me up, gonna blow up
Any attempt to defeat

They gotta death star
Got four payments on my car
Hand it over to hammer head
At Mos Eisley bar

He used to carjack
Now he's a barback
Just goes to show how you can
Get back on the right track

As for me that's not an option
Can't say that with more clarity
Me going legit would be like
Jar Jar on speech therapy

My backpack's got jets
Well I'm Boba the Fett
Well I bounty hunt for Jabba Hutt
To finance my 'Vette

Yea, we all saw it the first time. It wasn't funny then either.

The guy hand picked by the Emperor to be his right-hand man needs to rely on a bunch of people dying in battle to get a promotion?

[/ QUOTE ]

The Empire outsourced the construction of the first Death Star and had Vader dotted-line report to the PM for that project (Tarkin).

When that project turned out to be an abject failure, in no small part due to Tarkin's overly aggressive management style ("Evacuate?!"), the Board of Directors determined that if that kind of capital expenditure was going to be made a second time, the only way it would approve is if actual Empire employees were used on the project, which explains why it was still incomplete.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who read that entire Palpatine entry.

OK, I don't feel like getting lost in the wookiepedia again so here's my question: At the end of ep 3 the emperor shows Vader the beginning of the Death Star. Yet in ep 4 Luke is roughly 17-19, and it still isn't finished, so it takes roughly 20 years to build the first one. Why is the second one finished much sooner?

Here's another thing, most of us have grown up with the movies our entire lives so we've never really thought about it, but "the death star" is a really lame name.

I'd say at least 7-10 yrs b/w Jedi and Empire. The death star 2 is about 1/2 done, technology moves quicker, also luke is older and a competent jedi, much more than the fumbling idiot in empire. Plus it would take sometime for the rebel fleet to rendezvous wherever the [censored] they were supposed to.

Thats just my guess but I'm sure someone can give an exact time.
