What computer should I buy?
So Im getting a new computer and would be willing to spend up to 1k. I already have two monitors and a graphics card, so I just need the processor.
Im looking for one that is really fast and will not get [censored] by pokertracker. What do I get? Also, do they make desktop computers that have built in wireless cards like laptops because that would be cool? Thanks |

Re: What computer should I buy?
I also need this computer to have a PCI express x 16 slot for the graphics card I have.
So basically I want a computer that can handle poker tracker, is really fast, under 1k, built in wireless, and a PCI express x 16 slot for my graphics card. Suggestions? |

Re: What computer should I buy?
You have to build it custom. Buy the parts from newegg.com, and put a 10k rpm hd in it, etc.

Re: What computer should I buy?
You definitely do NOT have to build your own computer.
Maybe what Rhett meant is that you can go to a site and "customize" it. There are many cheap deals out there that Dell offers, google coupon codes before you buy too. I would go with Core Duo processor, at LEAST 1GB memory, and at the least...a Serial ATA hard drive. |

Re: What computer should I buy?
If you want them to sell you a computer w/o a video card, Rhett's right that you'll have to build your own. (There's a limit to what "customization" they allow.) I agree that you can just get a dell and minimize the card it comes with, but know that you'll still pay for a very respectable videocard in any Dell that cost $1k.

Re: What computer should I buy?
true, generally speaking with a machine like that you're gonna get at minimum a 128MB card included. i went through and customized the cheaper XPS system and cut down all the stuff you wouldn't need, assuming u have a monitor, and with the included video card it came out to about $825.
you might be able to get it a little cheaper without that card, but in your case you wouldn't have too much of a choice unless you know someone who can build you one for the price. |

Very respectable...for pwning 2d applications. |

Re: What computer should I buy?
I am actually not that concerned about using the video card that I have, I just want to make sure that I have two ports to plug in my two monitors.
I would prefer built in wireless, but its not essential. So basically I want a really fast computer that can support dual monitors. It doesnt seem like a lot of computers have two outlets for this though. Im not really interested in building/having someone build my computer. Any suggestions now? |
