Default NL25 Tough Spot

Nor really sure here, I'd been getting some bad hands so saw JQ and thought I'd raise. Villain seems like the average 25NLer. Should I just try get this to showdown? and what do you think about the flop raise? I want to take down the pot and I think the raise gets rid of most flush chasers.

Now I think if I check the turn I will probably get bet into on the river, a moderate bet I'll call hoping a chaser has me down for a chaser and bluffs or someone value bets and I'm most likely beaten.

Thoughts.

preflop ok. (EDIT: except your reason for raising is BAD!)

on the flop you offer 3.5-10.5 odds = ~3:1. That's probably a bit generous so consider raising more next time.

Given the size of your turn raise he could still be on a draw, and that card probably didn't help him, so I would usually fire again here. $9-10 seems reasonable.

Fold pf.

It's fine to raise the flop here, but you need to make it larger. I'm making it like $7 -$8 here.

Turn I'm firing again, probably around $10. If you're c/r you can lay it down easily.

if he has a set or 2 pair, or overpair, he most likely bet the turn, or push the flop. So i think hes on a draw or u got him beat. he might be making a cbet with TT or something and call ur raise, i see that alot.

@chandler: why raise the flop so hard? he might have u beat here..

I don't like pf being utg.

On this flop I'm trying to get to showdown as cheaply as possible, which means I'm not raising the flop. If I do raise flop it is a pot size raise of 7. Like I said I'm trying to get to showdown cheap so I'm checking the turn, and if checked to on river making a small value bet.

shizzle: I'm raising this flop hard because I can lay it down if 3-bet. A weak raise like this might induce villain to play back at you, and that's not good since we have to fold to any real resistance. FWIW a pot-sized raise is to $8.50 here, so $7 - $8 is not that large of a raise really.

mrw8419: Given that there are 2 people yet to act, don't you think it's better to raise and force them out? Otherwise, almost any card is a scare card and you'll be lost throughout the hand.

Preflop - no raise UTG with this hand. As played...Raise more on flop and fire again on turn...looks like he's drawing.
