It's okay, he is Ricky Zilem, "in a sense."

Phil Ivey used a fake id for years. are you saying he should have been banned from poker too? i dont see a problem with it. if the guy checking the id is too stupid to notice then i dont see anything wrong with it.

Whoa, whoa, whoa...there's a difference, actually. As ludicrous as it sounds...they never actually caught him in the act. He "supposedly" just came into the casino and said his alleged age when he used to play, which is hearsay.

People are being way too crazy about this. Who did he hurt? Why is the law set so that you can gamble once you reach some arbitrary number in age? You think a 20 1/2 year old is too stupid to be allowed to gamble as compared to anyone who is 21+?

I know the arguement isn't that it should/shouldn't be the law, and that the arguement is that he broke the law. However, stupid laws should be broken by defintion. We live in what's supposed to be a free nation, a nation that was born by rebelling against stupid laws that prevented us from +EV actions.

So you think Ivey lied about going to the casino underage? You think he made up a story that after his birthday he stood up and told the cardroom that he had been playing underaged? I suppose you also believe Michael Mizrachi never multi accounted?

Also, whys it matter if he got caught or not? Both committed the same act, why should only one be condemned? I demand Ivey be banned for life from all games in LV and AC!

I find that age-based laws are only "stupid" to those who are underage.

And you might consider that people CAN be hurt by problem gambling.

Cheating is breaking of the rules. Illegal is breaking of the laws. The only thing your "cheating" is the law, therefore it is illegal. In the state of Nevada it is "illegal" to play under the age of 21. Those are the laws, they might be stupid but that's what they are. You can break the laws but if caught your going to have to pay the price. Maybe he didn't cheat, but it was illegal for him to be in the tourney.
