There are some artists I am interested in, but don't know much about, and I thought this thread would be a cool place where we could put in requests like that. For example, I think Laurie Anderson sounds really interesting, but I'd to like to hear from a fan of hers where I should start listening, what I should skip, what I should look for, etc.

No, I thought maybe Dido and Jewel were your examples of, like, poppy VH1 stuff that, now that we've run out of osbcure artists, let's start with them. I don't know, it made sense in my head.

i haven't read this whole thread, but i highly doubt these lovely ladies or anyone similar has been brought up in it...these women front metal bands with or without an accompanying male vocalist...some of them help with writing as well... +Tarja - (ex lead singer of Nightwish) this lady just has a beautiful opera style voice, that combined with their music works very well, her attitude and aappearance also help give the music an ethereal mystical quality that i really like...
