part 4

a quick note. when i stop by o'sheas before registering for the harrah's freeroll, i'm about to walk out. then, i see two guys throw a $100 bill yo on the casino war table, and hear the dealer yell money plays. this is gonna be good. i've seen it all before, but usually it's at the roulette table. guys throw down a hundo on black or red hoping to go home for the night or enjoy they're newly acquired $100. anyway, here we go...i stop to watch for fun. first guy 7, second guy 6....i start laughing....bam, dealer turns over a 3. ship it. it was amusing none the less.

casino war is the new roulette.

so back to the tourney.

we're back from break, and the blinds jump up to 100/200/25. oh well, at this point, i'm having fun along with the rest of the table. newcastle is flowing like wine, and if bust out, i'm off to the strip where the women flock like the salmon of capistrano.

i don't remember many hands from this point on. one interesting thing that did happen was that two players went all-in later in the tournament, and the shorter stack won. the dealer starts counting out the chips and doing her thing rather quickly. after she pushes the pot, i notice something doesn't seem quite right. the new kid in the 9 seat says something about it not being right, and i agree. then the guy to my left says something, and all of a sudden like 5 people at the table agree that she counted out the chips wrong. unfortunately, she did it so fast that no one could say exactly what happened. i think she just said the wrong number to herself, and then counted out the extra 2400 from the bigger stack when it should have been 3400. well, one of the floor guys comes over and asks what's going on. the dealer insists she did it right, and most of the players disagree. everyone is saying it's wrong, or not saying anything. no one agrees with her. so the first floor guy asks if the bigger stack will agree to just give the extra 1k to the shorter stack. he says that he doesn't know what happened, so he's not just going to give away the 1k. then, the TD comes over and says that since no one can say what happened for sure, he has to go with the dealer. i guess i don't know a better solution, but i thought it was kind of a dick move for the guy to not give away the extra 1k when everyone at the table pretty much said that's what needed to happen to correct it. but that's just me, i try to do the right thing in situations like that.

anyway, the tournament keeps going along, i make a couple of bad plays including knocking someone out by calling an all-in with 92o, my favorite hand. shortly later, a guy comes to the table to my right, and it folds around to him in the sb. as he's thinking, i'm like, "these guys can tell you, i'm not scared to call with 92." then he goes all-in, and i look down at 92s and insta-call. this turned out to be totally retarded at this point. he had enough chips to hurt me, and i maybe i should have laid off the beers......nah, it's ok. i can come back.

anyway, it gets pretty late in the tourney, and we're down to 2 tables of 9. 9 places pay, so i need to get some chips. unfortunately, there's a new big stack at the table that is opening almost every single pot for a raise if not calling, and i don't have enough chips to get him off a hand with a resteal. when we're down to 11, UTG raises, and it folds to me where i have AQs. i really have no way not to push here given my stack size, and just making the money doesn't really interest me. first was a little over 1k, and 9th paid about 100 or so. anyway, i push, and the ep raiser calls w/AK. that's all she wrote, and i'm out in 11th place. time to head back to bally's

well, it's around 2:30 or 3, and i'm thouroughly wasted at this point. i guess that means i should just crash out.

no thanks, i'll buy into the 1/2nl game with the last of my money. i know the math doesn't add up, but at this point i think i had like 120 in cash, and i used it all to buy into the game.

i start playing really terrible poker by calling a lot before the flop with trash hands and hoping to hit something. i end up going down to about 70 and start thinking, man, i need to double up so i have some chips to play with.

well kids, what's the best way to double up at the poker table. maybe i should wait for K's or A's, open push, and hope to get called by J's or Q's.

no thanks. for some reason, i get the idea that it's ok to take my stack off the table all except $1. i quickly do this and walk away before anyone can even say anything, and go to the nearby $15 bj table.

now, it's not like i walked across the casino...that would take too long. i walked from the poker table and sat at a bj table that was literally 5 feet behind the poker table. so as i sit down, the poker dealer is looking at my back sitting down at the bj table.

so i place my first bet of 15. 14...hit...bust. eff this game. let's up it to a $30 bet.

i have 6, and the dealer shows a 2. what does the book say?
...double down for less baby. i put my last 25 down, and draw a 3. dealer turns over a T and draws a face card to bust. ship the 110 please. i break a 5 to tip and gather my chips. i walk the 5 feet back to the poker table and take my seat. the dealer says something about leaving for good if i want to go play bj. i say sorry, and the game goes on.

i somehow acquire some chips. maybe it has something to do with a hand i wrote down. i jotted down a few notes from the day when i got home, but i was in a drunken stupor, and i wrote fast.

my notes say

"27T B
check around
7 turn call 10
river blank call 20 ship it"

let me know if you know what that means.

anyway, i get up to around 200 or so when a big hand occurs.

i limp on the button after a few limpers with K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

flop comes 237
sb checks, bb checks, one guy bets 5, 2 callers, i call, sb folds and bb calls.
turn is a K...sweet.
the bb comes out w/30 and it folds to me. i'm like, "wow, you just called 5 and now you bet 30." he kind of chuckles and says, "i flopped the straight, oh wait..." haha, etc.
well, in that case, i better make it 75 b/c the K helped me too. he goes all in for 175 total and i think for a sec. the only hand i think he can have that beats me is K7, and i'm almost positive he didn't flop a set. he had a chance to c/r the flop with 2 of a suit on the board, but just called. anyway, i call and he flips over K2 for a worse two pair.

this puts me up around the $400 mark. a drunk younger guy comes over to fill that guys seat, and we chat a bit. we then decide that it'll be a good idea for the 2 of us along with his 2 other buddies at the next table (2/4) to take a shot of jager.

i must have won a couple of hands b/c i leave shortly after the shot with a little over $500. i decide that i'm tired after getting up at 7:30am tx time. it's almost 5am lv time, so i'm coming up on being awake 24 hours. i go back to my room and get ready for bed.

oh, and i was planning on getting some drunken late-night food before bed, but bally's doesn't have a 24 hour place to eat. doubleyou-tee-eff. what kind of crap is that? what a total beat b/c i'm way too tired to walk anywhere that isn't inside my hotel.

this is where i amaze myself. i'm drunk, horny, tired, and just made some $$$'s. however, i somehow find the logic to not spend $14.95 on a porn in the room b/c i know i'll be asleep after 5 mins. i pass out shortly thereafter.

end of day one....+200

LOL, I'd have paid a quarter to see that.

Actually they do. It's the coffee shop over by the down escalator. They will even let you pack your food to go so you can eat it in your room (just in case you pass out). They won't even complain if you pour spaghetti sauce all over the table because in your drunken state you placed the take out box upside down on the table and the sauce leaks out of the latch holes.

I'm beginning to rate hotels on the availability of late night take out food. Wynn and Orleans (for their 24 hour Subway) are tops right now.

Good report, amazing you remember that much detail.

haha...i obviously didn't catch that. i just remember that by the river, the board was QK88X with 4 hearts, and the 3 hands at showdown were QQ, K8, and AhX. i couldn't believe the K8 guy didn't raise...i would have gone broke.
