Default Oh So Standard?

Been having soo much trouble lately with 99-JJ postflop after 3 betting flop. ESPECIALLY OOP. Villain here is 38/14/1 over 668 hands.

Your flop bet is weak. Make it more like $19 or so.

Otherwise, it is fine.

yeah flop bet should be 18-20...

Flop $18-20 and the rest looks good versus this villain. VS a more aggressive one I'd be tempted to look him up on the river as only a slowplayed set/ JT/KQ really make sense as this K should be a scary card for most of what just called the flop AND after we check the turn (thus we have AK obs)

It almost feels sometimes like people are looking for "permission" not to play JJ-99 aggressively preflop. Well here you go: &lt;waves hand authoritatively, blesses calling with JJ-99&gt; It's ok to stop three-betting preflop. Problem solved.

Your three-bet here with those stacks makes sense if your opponent will call often preflop and lay down on the flop with less than top pair, such that you are gaining value by putting in money preflop, or if you believe you can go to the felt with second or third pair profitably. The latter requires either a hyperaggressive game or a complete chip spew. Neither seem to be the case here, especially because you are debating whether to cbet.
