Set on 3-flush and 3-str flop
On Tain network so I don't have the exact hand history.
Villain is newish to the table but has been playing solid and I haven't seen any bad plays. $0.25/$0.50 - 6 max Hero has 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] - CO. Hero raises to $2 preflop - 2 callers (Button and BB). Flop 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] BB Checks Hero bets $6 Button pushes $46 Hero ???? (I have him covered) |

Re: Set on 3-flush and 3-str flop
wow that is brutal, it looks like he has a made flush, but a small one he is scared of losing. You have 7 outs plus the chance of a running pair, but that may be conterfeited by a straight flush draw to his current flush. I think in this ugly situation you could fold your set. $40 more is a lot to call off with few outs if he does indeed have a made hand.

Re: Set on 3-flush and 3-str flop
IMO you get shown a worse hand enough times to make this call +EV. At NL 50, players LOVE to slow play. The only thing that would worry me here is a straight, but his possible holdings with the preflop raise is very unlikely. I believe you see a smaller set, pocket fives, or Ax with the A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] more often than not. Smile and call.

Re: Set on 3-flush and 3-str flop
At the time I chickened out and folded.
However, the more I think about it - the more I think I should probably have called. |

Re: Set on 3-flush and 3-str flop
I'm guessing you play on PokerShare? I believe I was sitting at a table with you earlier today where you doubled thru with Fives Full against three tens. Or am I mistaken? NH otherwise.

Re: Set on 3-flush and 3-str flop
Well, it's no big secret here that I use the same name on all the sites I play at.
Where you my "victim"? |

Re: Set on 3-flush and 3-str flop

Re: Set on 3-flush and 3-str flop
looks like a straight that is very afraid of a flush. But of course it could also be A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]X, 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], or 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], or all kinds of stuff.
I suspect that calling is mildly +EV but very high variance. |

Re: Set on 3-flush and 3-str flop
You must be ahead here 17% of the time to make this a +EV call.

Re: Set on 3-flush and 3-str flop
u sure its only 17%? Does this account for villain having a heart in his hand and everything? if so, clear cut call.
